We were on a quest to find good restaurants near our http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com. When Dr. P lived in West LA, his favorite Japanese restaurant near his place is Hide Sushi. He got take-out from Hide almost every week. We found Sango Sushi from a coupon book we received in the mail. We thought it's a regular sit-down Japanese sushi restaurant. But only when we got there we found out it was more of a Japanese "fast-food" type of place. You place order and pay your order at the counter, and no tip needed kind of place. They do a lot of take-out. Our first time there, we decided to try the food to-go.
Spicy Tuna Bowl ($7.30)
Spicy (marinated) Tuna with Vegetables over Sushi Rice
Dr. P got a Spicy Tuna Bowl. The tuna was very fresh. We like the crunchy cucumber, burdock, and creamy avocado. The sushi rice was yummy, too.
Beef Udon ($4.80)
The counter lady suggested Beef Udon, telling us it's a very popular item and very good. It was indeed very good. Tons of beef, mushroom, onion, and bamboo shoot. The udon was chewy. Broth was tasty, especially with a little bit of the Japanese spicy powder added.
Pork Katsu Curry ($5.90)
An extra dish for lunch the next day. Pork Katsu Curry came with a big piece of fried pork chop. The curry sauce was in a separate container.
There were tons of potatoes and carrot in the curry sauce. The sauce tasted very authentic and delicious. The big pieces of veggies made it taste more like a http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com-made style. We divided the Pork Katsu Curry into two lunch boxes for both of us the next day.
We really like this little Japanese restaurant. It will be a good place for fast, cheap, authentic, and good Japanese take-out near http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.
