[Alhambra] [Chinese] 海霸小炒皇 Harbor Kitchen

After visiting Harbor Kitchen with my sister, I kept on thinking about the food from there.  So I returned again with my mom and sister again two weeks later for lunch.

XO醬炒蘿蔔糕 Pan Fried Turnip Cake w/ XO Sauce ($5.95)

Pan Fried Turnip Cake w/ XO Sauce was one of the afternoon tea item we had last time.  We liked it a lot.  So when we saw it on the lunch special menu, we ordered it again.  Lunch special price is $1 more than the afternoon tea special, and it doesn't come with free drink.  We thought lunch portion would be bigger, but it was exact the same portion as afternoon tea.  So I guess going there for afternoon special is a better value than lunch special.

招牌炒麵 House Chow Mein ($6.95)

House Chow Mein had chicken, fish, shrimp, scallop, squid, and tons of veggies over crispy fried yellow noodle.  It was your typical oily but super yummy Cantonese style chow mein.  It was really tasty.

咖哩雞 Curry Chicken ($6.25)

My mom loves curry.  She likes Indian curry, Japanese curry, Malaysian curry, Singaporean curry, pretty much any curry.  The Curry Chicken at Harbor Kitchen tasted more like a Malaysian style curry.  It was slightly spicy, and very very good with rice.  The chicken was a little bony though.  I wish I had some flat bread to dip in the yummy curry sauce.

臘味煲仔飯 Preserved Meat in Clay Pot Rice ($6.95)

Last time we tried Minced Pork with Preserved Vegetables in Clay Pot Rice (梅菜肉餅煲仔飯) and thought it was really good.  This time we tried the more traditional Preserved Meat in Clay Pot Rice.  It was good, but maybe I just don't like preserved meat as much as the soft minced pork.  I thought the minced pork one was much better.  My dad really enjoyed the leftover though.

I seriously love the food at Harbor Kitchen.  What do they add to their food?  Why do I feel so addicted to it??  haha...

  3. All of that looks amazing. And amazingly cheap as well! I wish I had someplace like this close to me.

By the way, your mom and I would make great eating partners--I love curry too! I've heard it said that it's an acquired taste, but I've loved it ever since the first time I had it.

My mom doesn't eat spicy food.
The only spicy food she would eat are curry and... kimchi. haha...
She always tells me curry is good for your health.
I also love curry, especially the Indian kind.
