I went to Garden Grove to fix my PlayStation 3. Afterward, I randomly flipped through Entertainment Book to find a place for lunch. Al Madinah's description from Entertainment Book made it sounds like an Indian restaurant.
It still looked like a restaurant from outside. But then I walked in.... and it was a little grocery store.
I handed over my buy 1 get 1 free coupon to the guy in the kitchen, and told him I would like to order food. He just stood there and stared at the coupon for like 2 minutes. Then he said, "I go ask" and went to the back. Then the owner came out, and also looked at the coupon for a long time. It seemed like they didn't even know about the Entertainment coupon themselves. It was just really strange. Then I told them if they are not serving lunch anymore, it's ok. I'll just leave. Then the owner was like... no no no, it's ok. You can order. But it'll take 10 minutes to cook the food. Yeah, I can wait for 10 minutes.
So I ordered my food. The owner went to the back. The kitchen guy went into the kitchen and started cooking my food (I assumed?). What I thought would be a 10 minutes wait turned out to be a more than one hour wait. Seriously! I can't believe I actually waited for more than one hour in that little dirty looking grocery store for food from a dirty looking kitchen. During that one hour wait, nobody talked to me. I couldn't find anyone in the store either. What a horrible experience!
Chicken Curry ($6.99)
Anyway, here's the food I got. Chicken Curry didn't come with anything. No rice. No bread. Just a small container with oily curry sauce with two pieces of bony chicken. Yup, TWO pieces. All that for $6.99 and one hour wait!
Boti Kabob ($6.99)
I guess all the meat went to Boti Kabob. This was boneless chicken tikka. It was actually pretty good. But definitely not worth the one hour wait.
Salad
The food came with a small salad. By small I meant maybe 5 bites. How come it didn't come with rice nor bread? What are you supposed to eat the curry and boti tikka with?
Ok. So the food was alright. But I HATE this place. I hate the wait. I hate it that they lied to me and told me it would only take 10 minutes. I hate it that they just left me there waiting waiting and waiting. I hate it that it didn't come with rice so after all that time of waiting then driving http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com in traffic because of the wait, I couldn't even eat the food. I had to cook rice myself. Did I mention I hate it? I would never go back there, and I would tell everybody not to ever go there!

ok I'll be sure not to go to this restaurant.
ReplyDeleteHorrible horrible place. Don't go there!
You are too nice, Eileen----I would have yelled at them for wasting my time and serving lousy food. I visited a new hot dog place called Pee Wee's in Huntington Beach recently and was so disappointed with their "Supreme Chili Dog" that I actually took it back and told the manager that he should be ashamed of himself for charging $4.25 for it. I took photos of it and posted them (along with a horrible review) on Yelp and that also made me feel better. I hate to think so----but I wonder if they being middle-easterners and you being an Asian female contributed to your shabby treatment. I think you should also give them a bad review on Yelp.
ReplyDeleteI was sooooo mad when I left the place.
Then I thought I should've said something, but chicken me didn't.
Yeah, I will go write something on Yelp so other people don't have to experience the same thing.
