Dr. P had to go to Irvine Spectrum to return something. We thought of Fukada Restaurant, which is really close to Irvine Spectrum. We haven't been there for such a long time. We actually try to go back a few time. But for some reason, every time we went, it happened to be a Monday, which is the only day they are closed. Then the next time we forgot about it and went again on Monday. Finally we went on a day they are actually open this time.
We went for their noodle dinner combination. A bowl of hot noodle soup + small rice bowl for $10.95.
Noodle Combination Dinner ($10.95)
Hot Tanuki Soba - Fried tempura batter topping
For the noodle, first you pick hot or cold, then pick udon or soba, then pick Tanuki or Sensei. Dr. P's noodle was Hot Tanuki Soba. Tanuki is fried tempura batter topping. It was pretty tasty.
Spicy Tuna-Don
Chopped tuna with spicy mayonnaise on a sushi rice
For rice, he picked his favorite Spicy Tuna-Don. The spicy tuna was soooooo yummy. We were fighting for this small bowl of rice. Next time I am going to get my own!
Noodle Combination Dinner ($10.95)
Hot Sansai Udon - Assorted mountain vegetable (include bracken, flowering fern, dropwort, etc...)
My noodle was Hot Sansai Udon. Udon was chewy yummy. I love the Sansai noodle. It has a lot of vegetables in it, even though I hardly recognized any of the "mountain" vegetable, they sure tasted good. I like my noodle better than Dr. P's.
Oyako-Don
Cooked chicken and egg on a bed of rice
For my rice I got Oyako-Don, the chicken egg rice. I got really full already from the noodle already. So we brought the Oyako-Don http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com for Dr. P's lunch next day. He was happy with it.
Fukada is always good. Try to go early so you don't have to wait for too long for a seat.

I love fukada, esp the spicy tuna bowl! Everytime I go to OC or pass by, we always get some spicy tuna. I usually go to the Fukada To Go location now. Have you been? They have less options, but they have the spicy tuna bowl there for about $5, and it's really fast. We usually phone in our order and it's ready in 10 minutes.

If we are in a hurry or want to get to-go, definitely will try that place.
