My dad loves Islamic Chinese food, especially all the lamb dishes.  So growing up, we dined out at Islamic Chinese restaurant frequently.  After I moved down to Orange County, I was thrill to find Mas' Islamic in Anaheim.  I took Dr. P there a while back.  He tried this type of Chinese food for the first time and fell in love.  We thought about going back to Mas' Islamic, but it is a little far for us so we never made the trip.  When I came across another Islamic Chinese restaurant in Huntington Beach, which is a lot closer to us, I told Dr. P about it.  He jumped up with big excitement and said, "Let's go!"  So off we went to try Lotus Chinese Eatery.

Lotus is located inside a big plaza, next to a fancy looking Japanese restaurant with nice outdoor patio.  The restaurant looks really big from outside.

It was a week night, and the restaurant was almost completely empty.  We were a little worry.  But oh well, since we were there, let's just try it and see for ourselves.

蔥爆羊肉 Lamb with Green Onion ($10.95)

You have to order lamb when eating in Islamic Chinese restaurant.  Lamb with Green Onion is the dish my family always ordered.  So now when I go, I always order this dish, too.  I love the taste and texture of lamb.  It was stir-fried with green onion and garlic.  Super good!

干扁四季豆 Sauteed String Beans ($8.95)

For some reason, I always thought Sauteed String Beans goes perfectly with lamb dishes.  The string beans were slightly spicy.  It was sauteed with some minced beef.

蔥油餅 Green Onion Pie (Paratha) ($2.50)

We don't eat the dishes with rice.  Instead, we use Green Onion Pie to wrap the lamb and string beans like a Chinese burrito.  Trust me, it's really really good that way.  My family always ordered sesame bread, too.  But there were only two of us, and the big sesame bread would be too much for us to finish.

什錦炒刀削麵 Lotus Special Hand Cut Lo Mein ($8.95)

If you want to order a noodle dish, remember to tell them you want the hand cut noodle.  The thick and chewy noodle is much much better than your regular noodle.  The Lotus Special Hand Cut Lo Mein had chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and vegetable in it.  The noodle was a little bit too "wet" for my taste.  I think they might have added a bit too much water.  We like to add a little hot chili sauce to it.

紅燒羊肉砂鍋 Lamb Stew in Warm Pot ($15.95)

Lamb Stew in Warm Pot was our favorite of the night.  The stew soup was soooooo tasty.  Tons of stewed lamb in the soup.  We also loved the napa cabbage.  I think I had 3 bowls that night.  The leftover soup was really good the next day.  I think next time I could even add some noodle in the leftover to make Lamb Stew noodle soup.

We love the food from Lotus Chinese Eatery.  Service was really slow that night though.  We did got a little impatient while waiting for our food.  But once we tasted the food, we forgot all about that.  It was well worth the wait.  Glad we found this place, which is closer to http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  We will be back soon!

  1. I used to live in HB and this restaurant is quite close to my apartment. I like their food as well.

The problem is this restaurant is not that close to Aliso Viejo. I think about the same driving time compared with Anaheim Mas.

Really? I thought Anaheim is further north.

  2. I love Islamic chinese food! The lamb stew sounds so good. I will have to try this spot next time I'm in the area.

Lamb stew is perfect for the raining cold weather we're having right now.
Yum! I'm so craving for it!
