School started last Monday.  I am taking two really long classes on Monday.  First class is from 9am~3:20pm.  Second class is from 3:40pm~10pm.  Luckily, we got out early for the first day of class.  I had about 2 hours between the 2 classes so I went to the plaza across the street to search for food.

Hub Cafe seemed like a good place to get lunch and sit around before my class.  They offered free Wi-Fi, magazines, and games.  There were a lot of students hanging around there in the afternoon.

梅子綠茶 Plum Green Tea ($2.75)

It was a hot afternoon.  I ordered a Plum Green Tea to quench my thirst.  The tea was made with real plum.  Tasted good.  If you buy food, all drinks are $1 off.

鹽酥雞 Fried Chicken ($4.99)

They have a 2 course meal special for $8.99.  You can pick from a few appetizers and 4 rice dishes.  Seemed like a good deal.  For my appetizer, I picked my favorite, Popcorn Fried Chicken.  It was a big plate with lots of meat.  I love how they fried the chicken with basil.  The breading for the chicken was on the sweeter side.  I like it.  Dr. P had the leftover and thought it was too sweet.

台式滷豬排飯 Simmered Pork Chop Pot Rice ($6.99)

I picked Simmered Pork Chop Pot Rice as my entree.  It came in a iron pot.  Rice was topped with braised ground meat.  Lots of broccoli and cauliflower.  And the star of the dish was the pork chop.  I love the pork chop.  The meat was really tender.  Since it was simmered rather than fried, it wasn't oily at all.  The flavor was really authentic.  I will come back to Hub Cafe just to have the pork chop rice again.

Food was great, but their service wasn't.  They were quite busy in the afternoon, but there were only two people working.  These two people had to take order, make drinks, make food, deliver food, and clean tables.  While I was sitting there, people came and go, but nobody came to clean the tables.  Almost EVERY table had dirty dishes and cups.  It just sat there for the 1+ hour I was there.  The guy who worked there was polite.  But the female worker seemed irritated and bothered.  Also I think this is a "religious" restaurant?  They played Christian music in the cafe.

If you are a Mt SAC or Cal Poly Pomona student, you can get an extra 10% off.  Nice!  I really enjoyed the food at Hub Cafe.  It's a great place to pass time between classes.  Will be back again soon.
