We passed by Capital BBQ & Dim Sum Express a few times, went in to look at the food a few times, and left empty handed a few times.  For some reason, every time we went in there, the food didn't look too fresh.  Maybe we always go too late?  Finally, one day we walked in there, the food actually looked fresh.  So we got one of those 3 items combo to-go.

三菜便當 3 Items Combo

We got 1/2 fried rice and 1/2 rice noodle.  For the 3 items, we got spicy tofu, kao pao chicken, and curry chicken.  The best one was the curry chicken.  I also like the rice noodle a lot.  The other items were ok.  The food was pretty oily though.  This box of food cost about $7.  Too expensive according to SGV standard.  But I guess I'll just have to get used to OC price.

酸辣湯 Spicy & Sour Soup

The 3 items combo also came with spicy & sour soup.  The soup was good.

臘腸 Sausage

They also sell BBQ duck, chicken, sausage... the stuffs you can find in a Cantonese BBQ restaurant like Sam Woo.  I love Cantonese sausage.  I like both the flavor and the soft texture.  I didn't like Capital's version though.  The meat wasn't soft and smooth enough for my taste.  The casing was a bit too hard and it tasted like plastic film.  I think Sam Woo's sausage is much better.

This place also sell the same dim sum from Capital Seafood next day.  If you go really late, like after 9pm, the dim sum is buy 1 get 1 free.  But who knows how long the dim sum has been sitting there for?  Maybe since the morning?  Ahhhh.... sometimes I really miss the food (and the price) in LA.

  1. I've only been here once. The food didn't that great. Have you tried the combos at Ranch 99 on Culver, or the Sam Woo on Culver, or even the JJ Bakery on Culver? I think they all offer better combos.

I've tried the combo from Sam Woo. I agree it was better than Capital.
I tried stewed pork and rice from 99 Ranch, but not the combo.
I really like their stewed pork. Didn't know JJ bakery offers combo, too.

  2. i would recommend Yu's Garden (Jefferey Ranch 99). They offer http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com style taiwanese dishes (3 items for $6.25 (to-go only)). Friendly staff and good food.

Thanks, Mochi! I'll try Yu's Garden next time!
