I probably passed by Cafe Fusion 800 times before.  For some reason, I never had intention to try this restaurant.  Maybe it was because of the name "Fusion".  I thought it was one of those Americanized Asian restaurant.  But it turns out to be an authentic Taiwanese restaurant.  After reading a few blog posts about the restaurant, I took my parents there to try their dinner menu.



The restaurant is small, with a very small parking lot in the back.  But inside it was very clean, and I like the color of the wall.




Teapot with the candle was a nice touch.



There's no English on the menu.  Immediately after browsing through the menu, my dad commented that the restaurant is on the expensive side.  They even offer a $1,200 banquet dinner with 11 dishes.  Taking about fancy!  This restaurant also serves really exotic stuffs like snake and turtle, but a snake dish costs like $50 or something like that.


涼拌海帶 Seaweed

Our meal started with complimentary seaweed.  Just the right amount of vinegar and garlic.  I wish there were 5 plates of those seaweed for each table.


台灣芥蘭牛 Shredded Beef with Taiwanese Broccoli ($12.95)

I saw Shredded Beef with Taiwanese Broccoli on the table next to us, and it looked good.  After asking the owner what that dish was, our next table neighbor overheard and told us we should order this dish because it was really good.  We did, and it was good.  I actually didn't care for the beef too much.  But the Taiwanese broccoli was so fresh and so tender.  They chopped the Taiwanese broccoli into small pieces.  It was tender and still crunchy.  So good.


蔭豉生蚵 Oyster with Black Bean ($10.95)

Oyster with Black Bean wasn't the same kind that we are used to.  Cafe Fusion's version was very soupy.  And they used a lot of tofu in it.  The taste was pretty good, but we still prefer the regular version better.


三杯雞 Three Cup Chicken ($8.95)

Three Cup Chicken was recommended by the owner.  It was good, but the taste was on the lighter side.  I do like that they used a lot of basil though.


銀魚莧菜 Vegetable with Japanese Tiny Anchovy ($10.95)

Mom ordered the dish because she said my grandmother used to make this dish for her all the time when she was little, and she has never seen this dish on any restaurant's menu.  My mom loves the dish and said it tasted so much like my grandma's version that it brought back a lot of her childhood memory.  I like the vegetable a lot. No idea what is the English name though.  The vegetable juice was delicious with rice.  I pour it over my white rice and eat it like a porridge.

I like Cafe Fusion.  I thought the food was good, the decor was nice, and the boss was friendly.  My mom also likes the food.  But dad thought the food was just alright.  He also thought the price was ridiculously high for what it was, and he said he would never come back again.  So I don't know if I'll come back again.  Oh well, but at least I tried it once, and now I know Cafe Fusion doesn't serve fusion food.
