My Unsuccessful 3 Day Diet

I've gained weight in the last few months.  A lot of weight.  I have this cookbook called "4 Weeks Perfect Diet Recipe" (四星期完美瘦身食譜) written by Japanese Women's Nutrition College (日本女子營養大學).  Is there such a college in Japan?  Anyway, I've tried this diet before, and it worked.  What you do is that you cook a pot of soup the night before, then the next day you make your 3 meals out of ingredients from this pot of soup.  But it's a lot of hassle to get so many different ingredients everyday.  I tried it for 3 days this time.  I didn't lose any weight.  I think I actually gain weight.  So I stopped.  But.... it did worked last time, which was like 5 years ago.  Oh well, at least I like the food.


Day 1 Base Soup:  肉丸湯鍋 Meatball Soup

The base soup had potato, cabbage, brocolli, green onion, konjac, enoki mushroom, and chicken meatball.



Day 1 Breakfast:  肉丸蔬菜湯 Meatball and Vegetable Soup

Day 1 breakfast is just taking out some meatball, cabage, potato, brocolli and soup from the base pot.  Eat the soup with some rice.


Day 1 Lunch:  肉丸蔬菜沙拉 Meatball and Vegetable Salad

For lunch, take out some meatball, broccoli and enoki mushroom from the soup.  Add tomato, mayo, and a slice of lemon.  Eat the salad with a piece of toast with jam, and a glass of milk.


Day 1 Dinner:  什錦烏龍麵 Udon Noodle Soup

Use the rest of the soup for dinner.  Added tofu, udon, soy sauce and sugar.  For dessert, eat one orange with yogurt.


Day 2 Base Soup:  雞胸豬肉燉湯 Chicken and Pork Soup

Day 2's base soup is made with potato, carrot, onion, broccoli, mushroom, chicken breast, and sliced pork.


Day 2 Breakfast:  蔬菜蛋番茄燴 Vegetable, Egg, and Tomato Soup

Day 2's breakfast is made by adding tomato juice and egg to potato, onion, and broccoli from the base soup.  Eat the soup with a piece of toast with jam.


Day 2 Lunch:  梅子雞肉便當 Plum Chicken

For lunch, take out chicken breast, carrot and mushroom form the soup.  Add cucumber.  Crush some Japanese pickled plum and mix with soy sauce, and use the mixture sauce for the chicken.  Eat it with rice sprinkled with seaweed, and have apple with yogurt for dessert.


Day 3 Dinner:  牛奶什錦 Milk Soup

Add milk to the rest of the soup for dinner.  Eat with rice.


Day 3 Base Soup:  Chicken and Vegetable Soup

Day 3's base soup has potato, onion, carrot, cabbage, chicken breast, shitake mushroom, green beans, and egg.


Day 3 Breakfast:  奶燴玉米雞胸肉 Milk, Corn, and Chicken

For breakfast, use chicken breast, carrot, onion, green beans, mushroom and some soup from the base pot.  Add corn and milk.  Eat with toast and jam.


Day 3 Lunch:  水煮蔬菜蛋便當 Vegetable and Egg Bento

I had work that day.  So I packed my lunch into bento.  Use egg, potato, cabbage, and green beans from the soup.  Add tomato.  Eat with rice with seaweed.  Have apple for dessert.


Day 3 Dinner:  西式火鍋 Miso Salmon Soup

For dinner, add salmon, tofu, corn, and miso to the rest of the soup.  Mix sliced cucumber with some ponzu sauce.  Eat with rice.  Dr. P loved the miso salmon soup.

So that was it.  3 days of "trying" to diet.  I didn't lose any weight, but I did enjoyed the delicious and healthy meals.  Dr. P had a few meals with me.  He lost weight.  Hmmmm....  sometimes life is just not fair!

  1. the key to losing weight is to simply go surfing 5-7 days a week. works for me :)

  3. It looks so delicious but just like you said, it must takes a lot of time to prepare all the ingredients.

    Oh yes, takes a lot of time to prepare.

  4. wow, these are diet food? Looks delicious. YUMMMM...

    It was really good. Didn't feel like diet food at all.
    But I didn't lose weight, either.
