I had class in school all day today. Had breakfast at 6:30am. By the time I got out from my first class, it was 1:30pm and I was starving. I decided to walk to the shopping plaza across the street. Big mistake! It was sooooo freaking hot today! When I saw the sign outside of Chop Chop Grill with Today's special + COLD DRINK, I went right in for the cold drink.
I had no idea what type of restaurant this is. A quick look at the menu on the wall, I think it's a Japanese fast food type of place. They have ramen, curry, and teriyaki sort of things. There was a guy behind the counter. So I told him I would like to order today's special with the drink. He then entered my order into a little touch screen computer. Oh! That's how customers order in this restaurant? He said yes. So I played with the little ordering computer a little. How fun.
You pretty much order whatever you want on the screen, then swipe your credit card on the machine to pay. I guess you can pay cash to the cashier as well. But it was a fun way to order. The cashier/waiter will bring the food to the table for you.
Thai Iced Tea
You get a drink with Today's Special. I picked Thai Iced Tea. It was alright. But I was so hot and thirsty. Finished it in no time.
Grilled Pork Rice ($5.39)
Grilled Pork Rice came in a bowl with some shredded carrot. The pork was tender. The flavor was on the sweet side. It also came with a side of teriyaki sauce. This dish tasted like a mixture of Chinese and Japanese flavor. It was alright, but I did got really full.
If it's still this hot next week, I think I'll drive rather than walk. There are quite a few restaurants in the plaza across the street from school. I think I'll slowly explore them all.
By the way, I got stuck in the elevator at our apartment building today when I came http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com from school. It was a scary experience..... I think start from now on, I'll only take stairs.... >_<

have you tried 布織道? their lunch special is pretty good too
ReplyDeleteI went there once.... about 10 years ago! haha....
I passed by the place yesterday. Saw from the pictures on the window that they serve sizzling plate entrees and shabu shabu?
And the window was all black so I couldn't see inside.
A guy in a chef outfit was smoking outside the door.
I don't know.... that place looks a little scary.
But I'll try it someday.
