Dad said that he went to a really good all you can eat Korean BBQ place down in Rowland Heights with his fishing buddies. Last month when my aunt and cousin came to visit from San Jose, dad took us there for a Korean BBQ lunch.
The place is called Cham Sut Gol. But there was no English name written outside. Also the Chinese name is much bigger than the Korean name. I guess they probably get more Chinese customers than Korean customers?
Three different prices for lunch. We opted for the $11.99/person choice, which included beef short rib, beef brisket, pork belly, chicken, spicy tofu soup, and steamed egg.
What made this place better than the other AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants in the near area is that they use charcoal grill. I love charcoal BBQ because the meat always taste better.
Banchan
So many different banchans. We were given 11 different ones.
烤牛腩 Grilled thin slices of brisket bottom beef
The first thing we cooked was thin slices of beef brisket. This was my brother's favorite meat.
The meat has just the right amount of lean meat and fat. Meat was so tender and juicy. Well, the juice probably all came from the fat, but it sure was delicious.
烤五花肉 Black Pork Loin
My favorite was the black pork loin. The waitress placed the meat in a pot of marinates. I really like the flavor of the marinate. I also love pork fat. haha....
烤牛肋條肉 Grilled Beef Short Ribs
Dad's favorite was beef short ribs. He had two plates of this. But I thought the meat was a bit tough and hard to chew. Also I would prefer marinated short ribs rather than the plain one with no flavor.
烤雞肉 BBQ Chicken
BBQ Chicken was surprisingly good. The meat was really tender. They used a sweet and spicy marinate, which was great.
豆腐煲 Spicy Tofu Soup
Spicy Tofu Soup was not too spicy, but really really salty. Nobody liked this one.
蒸蛋 Steamed Egg
But everyone liked the Steamed Egg. Yum!
I like the food at Cham Sut Gol. But service wasn't too good. It wasn't exactly bad, but the waitresses hardly paid us any attention and there was only one other table besides us in the restaurant. Most of the time we didn't know where the waitresses were when we needed things. Also they weren't exactly friendly. No smile. No thank you. I probably will still come back again because the food and price is good. Just hope service will be better next time.

Oh yeah, that place. I used to go there a lot many many years ago.
I remember I thought the food was pretty good for a while.
But the last time we visited, the meat wasn't that fresh.
Then we just never went back again.
But that was so long ago, so maybe it got better again.
My dad really likes Korean BBQ. I'll take him there to try next time
Thanks for the suggestion. ^^
Cham sut Gol is probably one of my fav in rowland heights for AYCE, if you prefer to order individually there is another one called Ong Go Jib which I think has better quality, but it is not AYCE and has better ventilation so you don't smell like xxx after eating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation.
I'll bookmark this place to try in the future.
Food is good. The services are shotty. Always have to push the button for services!!!! But can't beat the price and if you can really eat, This is the place. Make sure to wear old cloth cause ventilations is poor and it will stink up what you wear.
ReplyDeleteBut I just heard that they recycled uneaten meat from customers table....
