Wednesday was a school holiday, Cesar Chavez day.  So my sister and I planned to take my mom to go see Alice in Wonderland, and eat out all day long.  Mom always does yoga in the morning.  So sister and I went to Si Hai (Four Sea) Restaurant for some Taiwanese breakfast, then brought some http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com for parents.

The restaurant is big and bright.  It was spacious, and the seats were comfortable.

I love Taiwanese breakfast.  Just look at all those goodies on the menu made me really hungry.

鹹豆漿 Salty Soy Milk ($1.80)

Their salty soy milk was alright.  I thought Yung Ho Tou Chiang's version was better.  Si Hai's version was missing the crunchy factor.  It needed some dried radish (蘿蔔乾) or pickled vegetable (榨菜) to give it the crunchy texture, as well as adding some saltiness to the soy milk.  But there were tons of soggy Chinese fried bread stick (油條) in the soy milk.

蛋餅 Egg Pancake ($2.70)

Green Onion Egg Pancake was pretty big.  We added some garlic soy sauce (from a container on the table).  Yum!  It was really tasty.

鹹飯糰 Salty Rice Roll ($2.60)

Oopsy!  Forgot to take a picture of the inside.  The salty rice roll was stuffed with fried bread stick and dried meat flakes.  It was a bit too dry, and it made me really thirsty.  Again, I think they should add some dried radish in it.

刈包 Pork & Pickle Bun ($2.40)

Pork & Pickle Bun was like a Taiwanese hamburger.  This is one of my favorite Taiwanese food.

A big piece of stewed pork belly, with pickled vegetables, cilantro, and peanut powder inside a fluffy white bun.  Every bite had the combination of savory, sweet, and sour taste.  It was soooooooo delicious!

芋頭酥餅 Taro Pastry ($1.20)

I was too full to try the Taro Pastry.  My sister said the taro pastry wasn't sweet at all.  It had taro with its natural flavor without sugar added.  We bought some http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com, and my mom likes it a lot.

All that food for $12.  Love Taiwanese breakfast.  We brought http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com more taro pastry, some radish pastry, egg pancake, pork & pickle bun, and rice dumpling (香菇肉粽).  My dad didn't like the food from this place, and mom thought it was alright.  But my sister and I like it.  Also the service at Si Hai was really good.  The ladies who work there were friendly and always smiling, unlike the other Chinese breakfast eateries.  I want to go back again to try more food!

  1. I did not like their montou and soymilk. They overcooked their soymilk. I think I prefer JJ bakery's montou and soymilk.

    I haven't tried JJ Bakery's breakfast.
Both my mom and sister said it was great. Really want to try it next time!
