Pet Expo

We went to Pet Expo in Costa Mesa on Saturday. It was such a fun event! It was our first time, and we think we'll go every year from now on. There were so many animals to see, cows, pigs, horses, dogs, cats, reptiles, snake, birds, rabbit, rodents, fish, llama, and even some wild animals. I only took pictures for the first two hour or so. Then the rest of the time I just want to enjoy the fun and stopped taking pictures.

Those two llamas are so funny looking (but still very cute) because they have messed up teeth.  I've never seen any other llama with teeth like that.  I wonder if other llama think they are not as good looking.  haha....

Dorky Dr. P with oxens.

Splash Dogs! Dogs competed to see who can jump the farthest.

This pitbull Lab mix is world record holder.  He jumped 27+ feet!

We also saw part of a cat show.  Those cats can do tricks!  I can't imagine how hard it must be to train those cats.

Look!  A tucan.  He's so pretty, and calm.  Not moving at all with all those people walking around.

This lady had a sloth in her arm.  I want a sloth, too!

Kangaroo is adorable.  There is a petting zoo with kangaroo in it.

Those are wolfdogs.  Beautiful animal.  It is illegal to own wolf or wolfdog in California.  Those wolfdog is from a sanctuary.

There are so many dog breeds at the expo.  We got to pet them, play with them, and ask the breed representatives questions about them.  It was a lot of fun, and very educational as well.

This is Dr. P's favorite breed of dog besides labrador.  And I totally forgot the name of the breed.... >_<

Dr. P with a Irvine police dog.  His name is Randy, and he's such a sweet dog.

Look at all those dashshunds in the beach chairs.  So cute!

There was also horse show.  Those horses are so pretty.

We almost took a chihuahua mix named Daisy that day.  Dr. P saw a cute dog on the grass area, and went to pet him.  Daisy was also out there but we didn't notice her at first.  She approached us, and the girl that was walking Daisy told us that she's from a shelter in the Lancaster area.  Daisy was so cute and sweet.  Later we went to the adoption tent to visit daisy.  When she saw me in front of her cage, she ran right up, and started licking me on my nose.  When I held her in my arms, I wanted to take her so bad.  We seriously almost did.  We asked the shelter people if Daisy barks because our apartment does not allowed dogs, and if we take her, we would have to hide her.  A shelter lady advised us to really think about it then.  What happens if we get caught?  Would we have to get rid of the dog?  What are we going to do?  And that is the reason a lot of dogs end up in shelters at first place.  What she said was absolutely right.  We didn't take Daisy, and only hope that a cute and sweet dog like her would get adopted very soon.  And we are moving when the contract is up!

Love pet expo.  It is such a fun experience.  Hope to go again next year!!

  5. Just curious, why is illegal to own a wolfdog in California?
    Too dangerous?

Yup, they still have the wild wolf side.

  6. I think because they are considered wild animals. Some states do allow it, but your need special permit.

    Yes, you're 100% correct!

  8. I'm a fan of your website. I'm going to the Pet Expo in Santa Clarita this weekend
it should be the same as the one in LA, right? I've never been but my 3-yr old twin girls LOVE animals. Since we can't own one, they can only play with dogs at Expo :)

You girls will have so much fun at Pet Expo.
There are also pony rides and petting zoo.
There's another pet expo in August in Pomona.
I think I'll try to go to that one as well. Enjoy! ^^
