Drunk Dog... Yes She's Really Drunk

I went into the hospital where I am working as an intern this semester, and saw this dog in the kennel.

I thought the dog looks funny and asked the doctor, "What's wrong with this dog?  She looks like she is drunk."  The doctor answered, "She IS drunk!"  What?!?!?!  Seriously?

A young couple brought this dog in early morning in their pajamas with this drunk dog.  They had a party the night before in their house, left the unfinished drinks on the tables, and went to bed.  Apparently this little dog drank up all the leftover vodka.  She was so drunk that she couldn't even stand.  The doctor said she had at least 5 shots of vodka, which can easily get a normal person drunk, not to mentioned she is just a little dog.  Luckily the owners brought her in on time.  She will recover without any problem.  But hopefully both the dog and the owners learn a lesson.

Some more dog pictures.  This bulldog came in because he was vomiting and had diarrhea.  He's very handsome.

This picture was taken in our class.  Look at how this Labrador was sitting.  haha.... so cute!

  1. Would that little dog have died if it wasn't brought in? I don't think that my cat would be dumb enough to drink any leftover beer or wine that I left out.

Yes, animals can die from alcohol (ethanol) poisoning.
It is often an emergency situation when pets consume alcohol.
This dog drank vodka mixed with juice I think.
You would be surprise how "not smart" some dogs are. haha....
But I agree, cats are usually way smarter.

I know! Some people can't even take 5 shots of vodka.
This little dog is maybe 15 pounds? I hope she will never drink again. haha....

  4. How funny! I'm looking forward to starting my work experiences, although I'm still at the very beginning and starting off with the greyhounds next fall.

What did you do before the vet tech program? I'm always interested in hearing how people came to career changes especially into the animal field. Do you ever think about becoming a vet?

You will love the Greyhound work experience. I certainly did.
The greyhounds are so adorable and cute. You will definitely fall in love with them after the semester.
Before going back to school, I worked in the entertainment industry for 10 years.
But working with animals has always been a "dream", so to speak.
Then one day I just decided that I should go for it, and make the "dream" a reality.
I want to go to a job that I love everyday. I like being with animals, and I like helping animals.
I thought about becoming a vet when I was going to college 10+ years ago.
Now I learn that "thinking" doesn't do you any good. You really have to just "do it"!
    What is your story? ^^

  5. Thanks for sharing your story. I graduated w/ social science degrees and ended up working in the non-profit sector with youth, teaching arts, culture and media for several years. I loved it, but it could get a bit stressful at times. When I was younger, I wanted to be a marine biologist or zoologist so I decided to go back to school to pursue what my child self had wanted all those years ago. It's my first semester but I love it. It feels a lot different going to school now than it did when I first went. I especially like my animal handling and restraint class, and working with the farm animals, especially Eddie the cow (although he's been down ever since he got neutered and had his horns taken out).

Do you have Handling and Restraint with Dawn?
I love her classes! I had Anatomy and Physiology with her.
She the funniest teacher. I learned a lot from her class and had tons of fun too.
I really like how our school has that big farm.
Otherwise some of us would never have the chance to work with farm animals.

  6. yeah, I'm taking handling and restraint with Dawn right now and am really enjoying it. It was take our dogs to class week last week and I made the mistake of taking my rat terriers. They kept barking almost the entire time. It was so embarrassing but Dawn was really good about it.

haha that's funny. If you take Canine management, you have another chance to have your dogs barking in class! haha...
