We haven't been to Chong Qing Mei Wei for a while.  We went for a late lunch yesterday, and had some delicious Chinese spicy food with a side of.... earthquake!


風味冷菜 Cold Appetizer ($5.50)

When we arrived the restaurant, the employees were having their lunch, but a waiter got up and served us with a big smile.  We felt a little guilty for interrupting him from his little lunch break and apologized, but he said he didn't mind at all.  We ordered our usual 3 items cold appetizer.  This time we got spicy kidney, potatoes, and smoked chicken.  Everything tasted great, but I noticed that portion was smaller this time.



水煮羊魚 Boiled Lamb and Fish with Hot Sauce ($10.99)

Dr. P's favorite dish, Boiled Two Items with Hot Sauce.  For the two items, we picked lamb and fish.  We used to get beef all the time, but I thought the lamb tasted even better than beef.  Fish was always good, big pieces and soft.  Lots of cabbages in the bottom of e bowl.


飄香排骨 Peppercorn Spareribs ($10.99)

Our waiter recommended Peppercorn Spareribs to us.  The spareribs were tender, and had a slightly spicy peppercorn flavor. The spareribs were fried, so it was a bit oily.  The flavor was good, bu it wasn't ideal for my diet.



While we were eating, Dr. P said "earthquake!"  I didn't even feel it in the beginning.  We stayed seated, thinking it would be over soon.  But the earthquake got bigger and bigger.  The ground was shaking from side to side.  And it was sooooo long!  Then everyone at the restaurant started going outside, and we did, too.  The earthquake was still going when we were outside.  It must had been like 2 minutes or even longer.  What is going on in the world?  We have been having earthquake everywhere around the world recently.

Anyway, back to the food.  We always have good food at Chong Qing Mei Wei, and always have lots of leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  This place is definitely our favorite Chinese restaurant in Irvine.
