[Cook] Homemade Chinese Dinner

This was a Chinese dinner I made at home using what I had in the fridge.

Sauteed shacha beef, shrimp omelette, tofu stir-fry, and pig's ear from 99 Ranch Market.

沙茶炒牛肉 Sauteed Shacha Beef

Sauteed Shacha Beef was made with all the leftover ingredients from the Pho Bo Beef I made. Here are the steps:

1. Cook sliced beef (I used sirloin) with some oil until it is about medium. Place in a plate.

2. Heat up some oil in the pan, add minced garlic, minced ginger, green onion (cut into 2-inch long piece), and some red chili pepper if you like spicy. Cook for about a minute or two until it smells really good in your house.

3. Add bean sprout (or any left veggies in your fridge) and saute a little.

4. Place beef back into the pan. Add shacha sauce and stir well.

5. Taste and season with soy sauce if needed.

蝦仁煎蛋 Shrimp Omelette

I bought some cooked salad shrimp from the market, and had plan to make fried wonton out of them. Haven't made the wonton, but took some shrimp from the package to make this Shrimp Omelette. Dr. P loved this one.

1. Crack some eggs (I used 3) in a bowl. Add some milk (or soy milk or cream or water), season with salt and pepper. Then add some chopped green onion (cilantro or basil would be good too) and shrimp to the egg, and mix well.

2. In a non-stick pan, heat up some oil. When oil is hot, add the egg mixture and cook it like an omelette until it's done.

青菜炒豆腐 Tofu Stir-Fry

Tofu Stir-Fry's recipe came from The Photo Cookbook. It was our least favorite dish of the night.  Bok choy and tofu was stir-fried with garlic, soy sauce, and sweet chili sauce. We didn't really like the sweet chili sauce in this dish. Dr. P thought this veggie dish would taste better if I just cook it my usual way with garlic and salt. We ended up not really eating this dish and threw everything away. Such a waste, but it didn't taste good. :-(

I love just going through my fridge and pantry, and try to figure out how to make something out of leftover. The result can be hit or miss. But it's always fun to create and experiment. The beef and egg turned out really good so I am happy! :-)
