I went to Huntington Beach to pick my glasses. I was still recovering from my wisdom teeth extraction, and didn't feel like cooking for Dr. P. So I thought I would just get takeout for his dinner and lunch next day. I flipped through my Entertainment Book, and found Big Chopsticks only a block away from my eye doctor.

Mongolian Beef ($5.99) / Assorted Greens with Shrimp ($6.99)

My Entertainment Book coupon was buy 1 entree and 2 drinks to get a entree for free. Their lunch special is really cheap. Everything was only about $12. It fed Dr. P about 4 meals.

Mongolian Beef ($5.99)
Sliced Beef, Green and White Onions Sauteed in Our Special Brown Sauce

I couldn't really chew well yet, but the food smelt too good. So I cheated and took a bite of everything. Mongolian Beef was so soft. I like it a lot. But Dr. P thought it was just ok. He said the sauce was sweet, and he doesn't like sweet that much.

Assorted Greens with Shrimp ($6.99)
Sauteed with Fresh Broccoli, Cabbage, Snow Peas, Bok Choy, in Our Traditional Light Sauce

Dr. P liked Assorted Greens with Shrimp a lot. The shrimp was cooked very well and tasted fresh. He also liked there were lots of veggies in the dish.

Fried Rice

Lunch special came with fried rice. The fried rice was made with tiny bit of cabbage and just soy sauce. I thought the rice tasted a bit hard.

Vegetarian Egg Rolls

Vegetarian Egg Rolls were also included in lunch special. It was filled with cabbage and carrot. We both liked the egg rolls.

Hot and Sour Soup
White Meat Chicken, Egg, Tofu, and Wood Ear in a delicious broth

Lunch special also came with Dr. P's favorite Hot and Sour Soup. This I could also eat without any trouble. It was pretty good for a free soup.

This little restaurant was pretty decent. I like their price, too. It's not a restaurant worth a special visit. But if you live around that area and want some cheap and good Chinese food, I would recommend this place.

  1. I live in HB and have a coupon for this place, but never have used it....could you get chowmein instead of the rice?

On the menu, the choices are only white rice or fried rice.
Maybe you can ask them? Some place might be willing to do that for you.
I like chow mein more than fried rice also!
