I moved to US from Taiwan in 1989. In the 22 years that I've been here, I have never been to Arby's. I don't know why I've never tried it. I know they are famous for their roast beef, but I never get the urge to try it. I got a coupon from Arby's the other day. It was buy one drink and get their new pecan chicken sandwich for free. Sounds like a great deal to me. So off I went to Arby's for the very first time!

Small Drink ($1.79) / Grilled Chicken and Pecan Salad Sandwich ($5.29 FREE)

I got a drink for $2, and received the $5 sandwich for free! Woohoo~~~~

Description from their website: Tender chunks of grilled chicken breast tossed with crunchy pecans, crisp apples, celery, juicy red grapes, creamy mayonnaise and green leaf lettuce between two slices of our signature honey wheat bread made with whole grains. Prepared by hand in our restaurants each day.

The sandwich was made with two pieces of bread, lettuce, and the pecan chicken salad. I like the salad because it has a lot of grapes and apples in it. The chicken was soft, which I like. But the lettuce wasn't very fresh. Lots of brown spots that I had to pick out.

I enjoyed the sandwich because it was free. But if I had to pay $5.29 for it, I probably wouldn't be too happy. I think I could easily make this at home.

Jr. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich ($1.00)

I saw Jr. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich on their value menu for only $1. Looked interesting so I decided to give it a try.

It was a tiny burger with a piece of fried chicken patty, some shredded lettuce, and buffalo sauce on top.

It tasted like a tiny burger with a piece of fried processed chicken patty with some shredded lettuce and buffalo sauce on top. Uh... I think I can go to McDonald's to get their $1 chicken sandwich, which is double the size with the same chicken patty and shredded lettuce, then I can add some buffalo sauce I have at home from Chick-Fil-A, then make the same buffalo chicken sandwich bigger but the same price.

Both items I tried at Arby's was just alright. It wasn't too bad, but I probably wouldn't order either again. Should I go back to try their famous roast beef sandwich?

  1. Haha, I love that you even review a fast food place like Arby's. I haven't been to one in at least ten years and, thanks to your review, I feel no need to go back for another ten years.

haha I eat everything and write about everything. :-)
$5 for that salad sandwich is too expensive.
I could get Chinese food with so much more for the same price.
