I had a $50 gift card from California Pizza Kitchen. We went to the nearest location from our home for an early dinner. Elephant Bar next door was packed with people waiting outside. But CPK was half empty.

It wasn't even a hot day, but they had the AC blasting. It was so cold inside that Dr. P had to go back to his car to get a jacket for me. We also heard other customers commented about how cold it was. When a manager came by to ask how everything was, we told her about it, and she finally turned the AC down a little.

Korean BBQ Steak Tacos ($5.99)
Grilled marinated Korean steak, fresh shredded Napa cabbage, Romaine, sweet onions, scallions and fresh cilantro on corn tortillas. Topped with a spicy chili sauce.

They had a new section on the menu, "Small Cravings". We picked Korean BBQ Steak Tacos to try. We assumed it's CPK's version of Kogi taco. Well, it didn't taste close to Kogi's taco at all. The beef didn't have ANY korean flavor. It was more like carne asada. Then the sauce on top of the taco tasted more like ketchup than the Korean spicy sauce. I didn't like the taco, and Dr. P hated it. I wouldn't recommend this dish at all.

The Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad ($12.49)
Chopped lettuce, black beans, sweet corn, jicama, cilantro, basil, crispy corn tortilla strips and Monterey Jack cheese tossed together in our herb ranch dressing. Topped with chopped BBQ chicken breast, diced tomatoes and green onions.

The Original BBQ Chicken Chopped is my favorite salad from CPK. I always order this one when I go to CPK. We ordered a full size to share, and easily finished the whole plate. Did the size shrink? Or we were really hungry?

Thai Chicken Pizza ($12.79)
This is the original! Pieces of chicken breast marinated in a spicy peanut-ginger and sesame sauce, Mozzarella cheese, green onions, bean sprouts, julienne carrots, cilantro and roasted peanuts.

I wanted to try something different for pizza, and picked Thai Chicken. I liked the tender chicken and fresh bean sprout on top. The peanut ginger and sesame sauce was good. It wasn't a bad pizza, but it was just alright.

Chicken Tequila Fettuccine ($12.99)
The original! Spinach fettuccine with chicken, red, green & yellow peppers, red onions and fresh cilantro in a tequila-lime and jalapeƱo cream sauce.

Chicken Tequila Fettuccine is another favorite item that I always order. I love the tequila-lime cream sauce. So tasty! The chicken that day tasted a bit dry though. But I didn't even care about the chicken. I just wanted to eat the pasta with the sauce.

I used to love CPK. But lately whenever I have their food, I always thought it was just ok. Did my taste bud change? Or something about their food is different? Also I think their portion size is smaller than before. I still enjoyed my free meal with the gift card though. Thank you, credit card points!
