[Irvine] [Chinese] Chong Qing Mei Wei Szechwan Restaurant

Chong Qing Mei Wei Szechwan Restaurant

Yup, back to Chong Qing again! If I never say no to Dr. P, we'd probably be eating at Chong Qing every two days.

風味冷菜 Cold Appetizer ($5.50)

For the cold appetizer, we got our usual kidney and potatoes. Then I wanted to try something different and picked pig stomach. It was a bad choice. It didn't taste good at all. It lacked flavor and had that organ taste, so it was pretty gross. We think it would taste much better if they make it spicy.

薑爆鴨 Duck w/ Ginger ($10.99)

We wanted to try a new dish and picked Duck with Ginger. It was a great dish. They sauce was spicy and full of ginger flavor. The duck was meaty and tender. I think this dish would be so good with beer. We ran into our friend Connie and Ryan who came in to get takeout. Connie had a bite of the duck, and said she would order this dish next time.

炒時菜 Sauteed Chinese Vegetable ($9.99)

Sauteed Chinese Vegetable with garlic was delicious. How come I can never make vegetable taste this good at home? MSG maybe?

水煮牛魚 Boiled Beef and Fish with Hot Sauce ($10.99)

Then there's Dr. P's Boiled Beef and Fish with Hot Sauce again.

We should try a different dish every time we go to Chong Qing. Then very soon we would have every dish on their menu. LOL!

  1. Actually, for that vegetable my sister-in-law would usually add a little bit of Lee Kum Kee chicken broth.

Chicken broth! Maybe that's the secret.
I'll try that next time. Thanks, May!

  2. I always wondered about the vegetable dish as well, until getting it to taste pretty close to restaurants' versions by adding a lot of garlic, using a bit more oil in a hot wok, and using chicken broth (which is a must).

Definitely will try to add chicken broth to try next time.
What about chicken powder? Would that work too?

  3. 我自己會煮飯之後x就發現, 要追求到餐廳口感的口味通常都得加很多添加物,調味料跟油. =P

    真的,所以外面的東西好吃但是肥孜孜又不健康啊

  4. Don't use chicken powder! I tried it before and it came out nasty.

Ok I'll keep that in mind!
Thank you so much for letting me know, otherwise I would ruin a plate of vegetable. :-)
