[Getting Organized] Linen Closet

Our house is a mess! Actually our house looks neat and clean at first glance. But inside our closets and drawers are the places we hide our mess. There are so many "junks" that I've collected over the years... things that I keep "just in case" I'll use it one day. I have set a new goal for myself, get our house organized and decluttered! I'm taking small steps to focus on one small area at a time. I know eventually I can get everything organized.

(Before)

This week I started with our linen junk closet. This was supposed to be a linen closet. But we (ok mostly just me) use it to store "junks". I get something that I don't know where to put it, so I just throw it into our junk closet. Then it became this mess.

(Before)

Not only it stresses me out just by looking at it, I often can't find anything I need in there. Time to clean out the junks.

(After)

Afterward, I freed up two whole shelves! Woohoo!! On the bottom is the gift wrapping center. The one shelf up is my stationary storage area. Then the next shelf is my craft area and candles/air freshener shelf.

(After)

I want to go to the stores to get some pretty baskets and boxes for everything. I think the closet would look better with those baskets and boxes. But for now, I am happy to get rid of 3 trash bags of junk. I also have some items from the closet on eBay for sale.

I know I'm messy and collect way too much junk, and I want to change that. So I'm going to keep a record of my organizing progress here to encourage myself. Next project: yet another junk closet in our spare bedroom!

    Shelf #1: Gift Wrapping
    Shelf #2: Stationery
Shelf #3: Crafts, Candles & Air Freshener
You should let your husband use the other two shelves for tools and sports equipment!

haha now you mentioned it, I just noticed how "girly" the closet is. :-P
