Dr. P came back to Irvine Spectrum to meet me in the afternoon. He didn't eat lunch and was hungry. I had coupons from Panda Express for buy a 2-item combo, get 1 more item for free. Since there was a Panda Express right there, we just went in to grab something to eat quickly.

Kung Pao Chicken /  Mushroom Chicken / Chow Mein / Fried Rice

We had two coupons, so each of us got an order. We figured we could have the leftover for dinner. 2-item combo was around $6 each. Dr. P picked Kung Pao Chicken and Mushroom Chicken with half chow mein and half fried rice. I liked the mushroom in mushroom chicken a lot. Big, fat and juicy mushroom is so good.

Kobari Beef / String Bean Chicken Breast / Chow Mein

For my 2-item combo, I got the new Kobari Beef and String Bean Chicken Brest with only Chow Mein. I love Panda Express chow mein, but never really liked their fried rice. I always thought the rice was dry and hard. There was a hot chili sign on Kobari Beef's name plate, but it wasn't spicy at all. It was actually on the sweeter side in our opinion. I liked it, and Dr. P thought it was too sweet. String Bean Chicken Breast was pretty good. I liked the string beans more than the chicken though.

Broccoli Beef / Orange Chicken

For the two free 1-item, we picked Broccoli Beef and Orange Chicken. When my family first moved to US in 1989, we stayed in Arcadia. My parents always take us grocery shopping at Pavilions. After grocery shopping, we always get a 2-item combo to bring home from the Panda Express counter inside the supermarket, and we ALWAYS get Broccoli Beef and Orange Chicken. Seriously, we ate this two items for like the next 10 years! So now when I have Broccoli Beef and Orange Chicken from Panda Express, not only I think the food taste pretty good, it also bring back a lot of good memory with my family. Yup, these two are my favorite items from Panda Express!

Hot and Sour Soup

Dr. P ordered an extra Hot and Sour Soup. It was about $2. We thought the soup was just alright. The broth tasted more of soy sauce than stock.

As much as I love authentic Chinese food, somehow I also like Americanized Chinese food. I don't think I want to eat this everyday (but I'll eat authentic Chinese everyday), but once in a while I like to treat myself to some yummy orange chicken from Panda.
