[Coupon Shopping] Vons and Stater Bros Trip (5/28/2011)

I went grocery shopping at Vons and Stater Bros yesterday. The supermarkets were BUSY! I think everyone was out getting grocery for Memorial Day BBQ. Here is my shopping trip recap:

VONS

Starbucks Frappuccino ($4.00 $2.00) x 2

I went into Vons and saw that Starbucks inside Vons are having a special sale on all grande frappuccino for $2.00 after 2pm till 5/30. Nice! I bought one for myself, and one to bring home for Dr. P.

Total paid: $4.00
Total saving: $4.00 (50%)

The rest of the things I bought were:

  • White Corn x 4 ($3.56 $0.88)

  • Blueberries ($3.99 $1.00)

  • Safeway Kitchen Hot Dog Buns ($1.69 $0.88)

  • Safeway Hamburger Buns ($1.69 $0.88)

  • Wish-Bone Dressing x 2 ($7.18 $1.38)

  • Heinz Ketchup ($3.99 $1.69)

Total paid: $6.71
Total saving: $15.42 (70%)

I wanted to buy the Tony Roma’s Ribs that was on sale yesterday for $5.00, but the store guy told me they sold out in the morning already. I was planning to have the ribs with corn for dinner. Oh well, guess I had to change my plan.

Stater Bros

At Stater Bros, I bought:

  • Farmer John Hog Dog ($3.19FREE)

  • Pork Spareribs ($13.44 $7.63)

  • International Delight Creamer ($2.59 $0.95)

  • Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese x 4 ($11.96 $3.96)

  • French's Classic Yellow Mustard ($1.99 $0.99)

  • Kraft Salad Dressing x 2 ($6.98 $1.98)

  • 8 Pieces Golden Fried Chicken ($4.99 $3.99)

  • Potato Salad ($2.99 $0.99)

Total paid: $20.92
Total saving: $28.00 (57%)

8 Pieces Golden Fried Chicken ($4.99 $3.99)

I didn't get the ribs at Vons for dinner. When I saw the fried chicken at the deli counter window at Stater Bros, I thought it looked pretty good. It was also on sale for $1 off. So I got them for dinner instead. The chicken was great. The skin was really crispy and not oily at all. We kept on commenting how it tasted so much better than KFC. It was a good deal at $0.50 each piece.

Potato Salad ($2.99 $0.99)

Potato salad was also on sale. It was a perfect side to go with the fried chicken.

Dinner was served, and grocery shopping "almost" done for this week (Ralphs trip the next day). :-)

Total spent on the day: $31.63
Total saving: $47.42 (60%)
