Yesterday was first of Newport Beach Restaurant Week.  After looking over all the menus, I was very interested in trying Rockin' Baja Coastal Cantina's seafood bucket.  After appetizers and wines at Versai, we headed to Newport Beach Balboa Peninsula for dinner.

The restaurant is a lot smaller than it looked from outside.  There's a very long bar on the first floor, and only about 7 tables on the second floor.

There are a lot of beer boxes (empty? or not?) against one wall.  It felt like they just left trash in the dining room.  I didn't like the "eye soar".  But they have really cute waitress in super short shorts.  I guess the "eye candy" made up for the "eye soar".  haha...

Chips & Salsa

The short shorts waitress brought us chips and salsa.  The red salsa was very spicy.  I love the mango salsa.  There was also some pickled carrot.

Coffee (2.50) / Margarita de La Casa ($7.00)
Sauza Giro tequila, triple sec, sweet & sour and fresh lime

Dr. P ordered a cup of coffee.  And he ordered me a Margarita.  Both are good drinks.

Warm Tortilla & Sweet Butter

Next the server brought warm flour tortilla and sweet butter to our table.  I didn't know tortilla can be eaten just with butter this way.  It was quite good.

Tequila Lime Shrimp ($10.99)
Sauteed in butter, olive oil, fresh garlic, cilantro, red pepper, lime juice and tequila. Served with grilled garlic bread

The 3 course Restaurant Week deal was $25 per person.  I've included the original price of the dishes for reference.  Appetizer #1 was Tequila Lime Shrimp.  The sauce was strong, but very good.  It was full of garlic and lime flavor.

Longostino Lobster Bites ($10.99)
From the cold waters of chile, Langostino tails are batter fried and served with chipotle sauce

Longostino Lobster Bites was good, but kinda heavy.  Or maybe we ate too much at the wine bar?

Bloody Mary Oyster Single Shots ($1.99 x 2)
Virgin - Skyy Vodka - Skyy citron - Pepper vodka - 1800

We got 2 single shots of Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter.  OMG it was strong, and sooooo good!  I didn't really know what kind of alcohol we got in our shot.  I think it might be Skyy citron.  If a shot of alcohol cost $2, I rather get an oyster shooter because you get a shot of alcohol plus a fresh yummy oyster.

Surf & Turf Bucket ($23.99) / The Original Baja Bucket

We ordered two "buckets" for our main course.

The Original Baja Bucket
Slipper lobster tails, baja style shrimp, carne asada, and grilled chicken

The Original Baja Bucket had 3 lobster tails, shrimp, carne asada, and chicken.  The lobster was fried.  I liked the seasoning.

Surf & Turf Bucket ($23.99)
The best of land & sea! Baja Shrimp and Alaskan King Crab combined with Grilled Chicken and Carne Asada

Surf & Turf Bucket had 2 king crab legs instead of lobster tails.  The king crab legs was good, but I wish it was bigger.

The shrimp was also lightly fried.  I thought it was a little oily.  But the seasoning was tasty.  Both the carne asada and grilled chicken were really really good.  The meat was very tender.  Portion was pretty good.  We had so much leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.

Ranchero Beans & Mexican Rice

Main course also came with Ranchero Beans and Mexican Rice.  Both are great.  I like the rice a lot.

Fried Ice Cream ($4.99)
Rich creamy vanilla ice cream flash fried in a crunchy crust. Garnished with caramel sauce, crispy sweet tortilla chips and fresh whipped cream

Fried Ice Cream tasted so good after this sorta heavy meal.

Rocky's Chocolate Lava Cake ($5.99)
Warm chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center, caramel and chocolate sauces and fresh whipped cream

Rocky's Chocolate Lava Cake was good, but it was on the heavier side.  The best way to enjoy it was to eat the warm cake with ice cream.  Glad we had the fried ice cream to go with the warm chocolate cake.

Got our bill, and noticed they forgot to charge us the coffee.  We are honest people so we told our waitress.

Very good dinner, and great service, too.  I like this restaurant, but food is pricey at regular price.  Restaurant Week really offers a good deal because we save about $17 per person.  I don't think I'll come back if not for restaurant week.
