[Bread Machine] Cranberry-Raisin Bread with Nutmeg

The recipe from the book was Cranberry-Golden Raisin Bread with Cardamon. I didn't have golden raisin nor cardamon at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com. So I substituted regular raisin for the golden raisin, and nutmeg for Cardamon. It turned out to be delicious!

Cranberry-Raisin Bread with Nutmeg

For 1.5 Pound Loaf: 1-1/4 C water, 2 T butter, 2 T brown sugar, 3 C bread flour, 1/4 C dry milk, 1 T gluten, 1-1/2 t salt, 1 t ground nutmeg, 2 t SAF yeast.  Set bread machine on sweet bread cycle and crust on light.  When the machine beeps, add 2/3 C raisins and 2/3 C dried cranberries.

This was such a good bread!  Dr. P only said he likes my bread before, but this time he said he LOVES it!

My sister let me "borrow" her fancy shmancy Zojirushi bread machine and the super yummy bread machine cookbook.  I have a feeling I will be making lots and lots of bread now....  Yum!

  1. did u make the cranberry bread from the "new" bread machine?

but no joke, everything from the bread machine book tastes awesome. The perfect combo with my awesome bread machine!
you can make that pizza i was talking about for a perfect dinner, too.

Actually I made the bread from the old machine.
I thought I would use it one last time before I put it away. haha...
Then I'm going to use the new fancy machine from now on.
I read through the recipes. The calzone looked so hard to make.
Can't believe you actually made it. Pretty cool.
Did you make the Chinese chicken buns?
I wanna try making that one.

My book's recipe is less complicated than your fancy cookbook. haha...

  3. i'm not that into chicken for some reason and besides i got that small ass conventional oven that doesn't fit anything.
burns just about everything at the bottom. The calzone's not hard at all. i would say the only thing is having to spend all those money on so many ingredients and the time to prepare them. Most of the stuff taste good except for that once with mama's birthday but that's the problem with not having a blender mixer for the butter.

Yeah, the recipes from your book has a lot more ingredients than the book I have.
But those breads were the fancy and yummy kind. My book has mostly basic everyday bread.
I think I'll alternate between your book and my book, and make 1 bread per week.
I'm gonna try your bread and your recipe book today. I think I'm just gonna make a simple white bread.
The book said it is a good "starter test" recipe to try out new bread machine.

  4. Your bread looks great----but is it difficult cutting into slices?

    Thanks, Rich.
It's not hard to cut because I have Norpro 370 Bread Slicer and Guide with Crumb Catcher.
haha It's one of those gadgets that you don't really need, but will make things easier if you have it.
