We wanted to try a Colombian restaurant after our Monday night puppy kindergarten, but we found out the restaurant was closed on Monday when we got to the door.  I tried suggesting going to a few different places.  Dr. P kept on saying, "Mmmm.... what else?"  But when I asked, "Sango Sushi?"  His eyes lit up, and stepped on the gas.

This is just a regular looking Japanese take-out kind of restaurant.  I would never suspect they have super fresh and high grade sushi here.  Actually the first time I took Dr. P there, he got mad at me.  He was like, "I said I want sushi.  Why would you take me to a take-out place?"  We left that day because Dr. P didn't even want to try anything just by the look of this restaurant.  I insisted we go back to try again later.  He finally agreed.  Now he said Sango Sushi is his favorite Japanese restaurant in Orange County.  I guess you can't judge a book by its cover.

Hot Sake ($1.00)

Hot Sake was only $1.  It wasn't fancy sake, but for just one buck, it was a great deal.

Sushi Combo B ($9.80)
Tuna with cucumber roll, tuna, salmon, shrimp, white fish, albacore, squid, yellowtail and egg

Dr. P ordered Sushi Combo.  What can I say?  Everything was really fresh and delicious.  Dr. P actually got a knife and cut every sushi in half to share with me.  So sweet of him!  :-)

Katsu Donburi ($4.90)
Pork Cutlet Bowl

I ordered Katsu Donburi.  This was soooooo good!  I love the egg and onion with the slightly sweet sauce.  I think the sweetness came from mirin, right?

Oyako Donburi ($4.80)
Chicken & Egg Bowl

We ordered an extra bowl for Dr. P to bring for lunch the next day.  He picked Oyako Donburi.  Oyako is his favorite Japanese rice bowl.  This bowl tasted very similar to the Katsu Donburi, with the egg and onion and the same sauce.  I like the katsu better than the chicken.  The chicken had a "chicken meat" taste that I don't like.  But other than that, it was good.

Miso Soup ($1.50)

We finished the meal with a bowl of hot miso soup.  Ahhh... what a great meal!

Delicious delicious delicious!  What a hidden gem!  We just love this little Japanese eatery.
