With $20 for $40 Groupon in hands, we went to Jack Shrimp for a Martin Luther King's day dinner.  Dr. P called ahead to make reservation, but they told us just come in.  I guess business was slow?

There were only 5 other guests in the restaurant.  We actually enjoyed the quietness.  We had a table on the covered patio under the heat lamp.  It was a really nice night.

Bread

Jack Shrimp's bread is really good.  I kept on telling myself not to eat the bread and save it for dipping later.  But nope, that didn't work.  Couldn't resist and ate a big piece with lots of butter.

Sangria ($5.00)

Dr. P ordered a Sangria, supposedly for me, yet I only had one sip.  I'm telling you, Dr. P likes all the girly fruity drinks.  But he always uses me, pretending to order it for me, then he drinks all of it.

Spicy Tuna and Jalepeño Dip ($6.00)
with creole french bread and celery sticks

For appetizer we ordered Spicy Tuna and Jalepeno Dip.  For some reason, I thought it would be the Japanese kind of spicy tuna.  But it was actually the American style tuna salad.  It tasted pretty good, with just a hint of spiciness, but just not what we expected.  Dr. P thought the Hot Gulf Crab Dip we ordered last time was way better.  I like both.  The tuna dip was lighter, and crab dip was on the heavier side.  I'm planning to use the leftover dip to make a sandwich for Dr. P today.

Jammin Jambalaya ($17.00)
andouille sausage, chicken breast, onions and green bell peppers over choice of herbed rice or vermicelli pasta

Dr. P ordered Jammin Jambalaya with rice.  This was a really tasty dish.  Lots of strong flavors and very spicy.  I like the andouille sausage a lot.  Dr. P thought the Jambalaya would taste even better if there was shrimp in it.

JACKpasta ($17.00)
gulf shrimp, boneless breast of chicken, and Jack's spicy savory sauce over vermicelli pasta

I got the JACKpasta.  I thought this dish needs more seasoning.  The chicken was tender, but both the chicken and shrimp had no taste.  The sauce was the same as Jack Shrimp.  But since the sauce was on the watery side, it doesn't stick to the pasta.  So the pasta just tasted like starchy pasta.  I like Dr. P's Jambalaya better.

Portion was quite big.  We had lots of leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  After applying the $40 Groupon, dinner was $8.93.  Nice!
