[Food Truck] [Spanish] Barcelona OnTheGo

Before we went into Souplantation, we spotted the Barcelona OnTheGo food truck in the parking lot.  We walked up to take a look, and the owner told us that they wouldn't be ready for another 45 minutes.  On the truck, it said that they serve Spanish tapas.  Seemed interesting.  So we went back to the truck after Souplantation to take another look.

They parked in front of a wine boutique.  A lot of the customers from the wine shop came out to order from the food truck, too.

There were about 5 people in front of us in line, and ALL of them ordered Paella Valenciana.  Must be good.  So we ordered one as well.

We didn't know what Spanish Cassoulet was.  The guy told us it was a Spanish stew with pork, black bean, and blood sausage.  Sounded good.  Let's try one.  The guy told us it would take about 15 minutes for our food to be ready.  While we were waiting for our food, more and more people came to the truck to order.  Then I noticed everyone was ordering Bacon Wrapped Dates.  So we added an order of that, too.  We were still very full from Souplantation.  So we ordered all the food for to go to eat later.

Bacon Wrapped Dates ($4.00)

Oh yeah!  Those Bacon Wrapped Dates were delish!  I could totally understand why it was so good.  It had the flavor combination of salty + sweet, and texture combination of crunchy + soft.  It was heavenly good.  Who came up with the idea of wrapping bacon on dates and deep fried them slightly?  I should try making this at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.

Spanish Cassoulet ($5.00)

The stew/soup (or should I call it stoup?) was very rich.  The pork was really tender.  Blood sausage was a bit salty, but still very good.

Paella Valenciana ($9.00)

No wonder EVERYONE ordered the Paella.  Looked at all that seafood!  Mussel, clams, shrimp, fish, chicken and sausage.  This was delicious!

We were so lucky to run into this food truck.  There were actually people there who said they follow this truck everywhere.  We asked the owners when will they be back to this South OC location.  They said in general they come down to this area once a month.  But check their website for a date next month.  I'm definitely going again next month.  And next time I will go hungry!

Oh one more picture.  So we walked around the plaza, and Dr. P decided to be a dork posing with the Taekwondo guy.  haha......

  1. Hi Eileen,

Not quite sure if you knew that at least 4 food trucks would come to Irvine Boomers every Wed..

Last night the Barcelona OnTheGo was there with other 7 food trucks.

However, Paella Valenciana ($9.00) was not avaliable that time.

Below are the lists for the food trucks..

    Dos Chinos (Latin Asian Cuisine)
Tropical Shave Ice - authentic Hawaiian shave ice
    The Lime Truck
    Spud runners
    Louks to go
Piaggio On Wheels - Argentine cuisine
    Barcelona on the go
Rancho A GoGo - slow cooked BBQ

WOW really? I didn't know that.
Thank you sooooo much for telling me the info.
I will be there... maybe not next week because it's Chinese New Year eve...
So I think next next Wednesday! :-)
