After Pet Expo, we headed over to Mama D's in Newport to for an Italian dinner with a $25 for $50 voucher from Voice Daily Deals in hand.



So many people waiting when we got there around 7pm on Saturday night. This gotta be the most popular restaurant around the area.



Garlic Bread

While waiting, their friendly servers kept on bringing us hungry people garlic bread. Later I also saw them serving calamari and meatballs to the waiting crowd.


Peroni Beer

A girl came and ask if she could get us something to drink while we were waiting. Dr. P ordered an Italian beer. Later we realized she didn't ask us for our names, or a credit card. How do they keep track of what people order? We thought maybe they'll just remember your faces, and will charge later. But turned out that they didn't charge us for this one beer. They did charged for the one we ordered after sitting down. I guess while you are waiting, drinks are complimentary?



After waiting for a while in a comfy leather couch inside the restaurant, a waitress came and asked if we would like to sit at the counter area. She said there were still 5 or 6 parties in front of us. But if we don't mind sitting at the counter, she could sit us right away. Sure!


Garlic Bread

More delicious warm garlic bread, with garlic olive oil for dipping.


Peroni Beer ($5.50)

Dr. P likes the Italian Peroni Beer a lot. Ordered another one.


Stuffed Mushrooms ($8.99)
Our seasoned bread crumbs, fresh herbs and tiny mushroom pieces

Stuffed mushrooms looked a bit dry, but it was actually really juicy inside. Very flavorful. Not oily like some other places. Really yummy!


Roberto's Cioppino with Linguine ($22.99)
Simply our best seafood dish. Shrimp, mussels, clams and calamari in a red broth sauce with pasta.

Dr. P ordered Cioppino with Linguine. He loved it! Lots of fresh seafood with delicious broth.


Roma Spaghetti ($13.99) with Mama D's Original Pink Sauce ($3.50)
Fresh mushrooms, roma tomato, tender artichoke hearts, garlic and basil.

Mama D's pastas are pretty much "built your own". You pick the vegetable, pasta, sauce, and add on meat/seafood. I picked roma style with mushrooms, tomato, artichoke hears, garlic and basil, with spaghetti, and with their famous pink sauce. THIS WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS PASTA EVER!! The pink sauce is the bomb!!!! I love this pasta so much!



Ok. So I used to love the creamy pasta from Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen. Those pasta tastes to good in the restaurant. Then the next day when I heat up the leftover in microwave, the pastas were all very very oily. Everything was drench in yellow oil. Disgusting! I was kinda worried about Mama D's pasta being that way, too. But the next day, I heat up the leftover, and nope, there was no disgusting oil like these other places. That just made me love Mama D's a little bit more!


Chocolate Chips Cookies

Free homemade chocolate chips cookies after dinner. How can you not love this place?



Really like this restaurant. Food was delicious. Everyone was super friendly and nice. The only downside was they are so popular so the wait might be long. But with the nonstop free samples while waiting, it's a-o-k. Our lovely waitress also gave us a free appetizer coupon for next visit. I think that next visit will be soon.
