[Cook] Sake to Mayonnaisu (Broiled Salmon with Mayonnaise)

I've had Sake to Mayonnaisu (Broiled Salmon with Mayonnaise) in restaurants before. Didn't know it was that simple to make. Salmon, salt, and mayo. That's pretty much all you need. I probably didn't leave the salmon in the oven long enough because the mayonnaise wasn't browned. But the fish smelt too good and we were too hungry. I am sure it'll look better and probably taste even better if the mayo is browned a bit more.

[Cook] Sizzling Garlic and Lemon Shrimp

I love the meal planning website Relish. One more day left to get $16 for six months of meal-planning from Relish. Today's dinner was super easy to make, and the result was way above my expectation. Dr. P went on a business trip to Boston this morning. Too bad he didn't get to enjoy dinner with me. But I'll make it for him again when he returns.

Sizzling Garlic and Lemon Shrimp

The main course was Sizzling Garlic and Lemon Shrimp. I served it with couscous and salad with pears and pecans.

We love Boiling Crab! I've noticed there are more and more similar type of restaurants popping up everywhere. We want to try more new restaurants, but just don't know which one to go to. I saw a $15 for $30 Groupon daily deal for Dang! Crabs. It was a good bargain to try out a new restaurant.

Dang! Crabs is a small place located in a Vietnamese shopping plaza. The restaurant wasn't busy at all when we went there on a Sunday night. The servers were all really nice and friendly.

[Cook] Steamed Fish

My dad went fishing and prepared a fresh caught fish for me to take home. I told him I don't really know how to cook a whole fish so he taught me how and made the special sauce for me. It was so good. Tasted just like the kind of fish and sauce you get from Chinese seafood restaurant!

Steamed Fish

I watched dad prepared the sauce. He used:

  • Oyster sauce

  • Soy sauce

  • Mirin

  • Sesame oil

  • Garlic Powder

  • Water

I don't know the exact amount since he made it by tasting it.

We saw House of Big Fish and Ice Cold Beer's menu while walking down Coast Highway a while back. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. The price for each dish goes from $2.30 to $5.30 as the time gets later. Dr. P had a Friday afternoon free, and I thought of happy hour at House of Big Fish and Ice Cold Beer.

We got to the restaurant around 2:45pm. Happy hour is first come first serve at the bar area. Seemed like everyone knew about the cheap hour hour at 2:30pm, and the place was packed.

[Cook] Roasted Salmon With Lentils

We absolutely love this recipe from Everyday Food: Great Food Fast! The Mediterranean style sauce was so good with the salmon and lentil. It also tasted very healthy. I will definitely make this one again and again!! If you like salmon, I urge you to give this recipe a try, please~~~~

Roasted Salmon With Lentils

A mustard vinaigrette gives this Mediterranean-inspired dish its tangy flavor. Drizzle some over a leafy-green salad, and serve it on the side. The cooking time for lentils can vary widely depending on their age. Older lentils require more time. For the best results, we recommend buying a fresh, new bag.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
Yield Serves: 4

I found some pictures from my phone. Sometime when I forget to bring my camera, I take pictures with my phone. Then I forget about the pictures in my phone. Man, my memory is getting worth as I get older. :-( Anyway, we went to Boneheads a while back because I got two coupons. One was for a free appetizer, and one was for buy one get one free. I read this place is a lot like California Fish Grill, except they also serve chicken.

Boneheads Shrimp ($7.49)
Crispy Shrimp tossed in a spicy aioli with a hint of Piri Piri

The nice clerk let us used both coupons at the same time. For our free appetizer, we got Boneheads Shrimp. These "popcorn" shrimp was really really good. The crispy shrimp was seasoned perfectly. It tasted even better with their special spicy aioli.

[Cook] Salmon Taco

This was my semi-homemade Salmon Taco. The salmon was Trident Seafoods Wild Alaskan Salmon Burgers from Costco. I love the salmon burger, and always enjoyed it as a fish burger or sandwich. I had tomatoes, avocado, garlic and cilantro at home, so I thought about making fish taco that night. I went to the market, but none of the fish were on sale and everything seemed expensive. Then I thought of the salmon burger I had in my freezer. Why not try make fish taco with that? Dr. P loved it, and said it was better than fish taco in restaurants. haha... It was really yummy, and only took 15 minutes to make.

Salmon Taco

Trident Seafoods Wild Alaskan Salmon Burgers (from Costco)
2 roma tomatoes, chopped
1 avocado, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
A handful of cilantro leaves, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Corn tortillas

[Cook] Cod Provencal

This is another Rouxbe recipe. However, I messed up. I bought frozen cod from Trader Joe's. Somehow the fish burned within a minute after I put it in the stainless steel saute pan. It wasn't even cooked, but already burned on the outside. Also the fish just didn't taste right. Even the texture of the fish tasted funny. We ended up throwing everything away after a few bites. I don't think there's anything wrong with the recipe. Maybe I should use fresh cod and try this recipe again.

Cod Provencal

The cod had a panko crust. It was browned in a pan, then finished cooking in the oven. The ragout was made with garlic, tomatoes, edamame beans, olives, caper, white wine and basil. I think the leftover ragout would also go well with chicken or pasta.

San Sa Chun & Soju

Red Lobster

Cheese Biscuit & Ceasar Salad

(CLOSED)

[Cook] Cream Cheese Pasta Meal

Thai Caeser Salad

(Parmesan cheese)
