Last weekend Dr. P and I went on the Flavors of Laguna tour in Laguna Beach. We go to Laguna Beach often, but always go to the same places. We were hoping to discover more neighborhood gems and learn more about this beautiful beach city from the tour. And we sure did!

Here are the places we visited:

La Sirena Grill
347 Mermaid St
Laguna Beach, CA 92651

Chips / Guacamole / Salsa

La Sirena Grill was our starting point. We started with homemade chips, salsa and guacamole. Their guacamole is seriously good!

Blackened Ahi Sopa

Then we were treated to some Blacken Ahi Sopa. I've never had sopa before. It is a thick round fried pastry, which tasted kinda like a potato to me. On top of the sopa was blackened ahi with delicious seasoning, big beans, cheese, and fresh veggies. Everything we tasted was great. We immediately planned to come back after tasting their teasing samples.

We walked by this beautiful 4 bedroom mansion at the corner of Park Ave and Glenneyre St. I wouldn't mind living here. ;-P

St Francis By-The-Sea Church
430 Park Ave
Laguna Beach, CA 92651
(949) 497-4678

This is probably the smallest cathedral I've ever seen. This historical site was built in 1933. It's tiny, but beautiful.

White House
340 S Coast Hwy
Laguna Beach, CA 92651
(949) 494-8088

We didn't go in to White House, but visited the back side of the restaurant. It is the first bar/lounge built in Laguna Beach. Even though the front side was remolded and looks modern, they kept the back side at its original state. I saw this Whitehouse Cocktails sign in many historical Laguna Beach photos.

I never noticed them before until our tour guide pointed it out. There are a lot of those decorated meters in Laguna Beach. The city empties the meter nightly and the money goes to the 3 local homeless shelters.

Candy Baron
231 Forest Ave
Laguna Beach, CA 92651

Candy Baron has any candy that you are looking for. It is such a fun store to explore especially if you have kids, or you want to feel like a kid again.

Sundried Tomato Cafe
361 Forest Ave #103
Laguna Beach, CA 92651

Sundried Tomato Soup

At Sundried Tomato Cafe, we had their signature Sundried Tomato Soup. So creamy and so delicious. Our tour guide informed us they have a Sundried Tomato Soup & Grilled Cheese Sandwich combo which is to die for. I want to try that!

Fawn Memories
384 Forest Ave #7
Laguna Beach, CA 92651
(949) 494-2071

Next we stopped by at a cute little gift shop called Fawn Memories.

Lumberyard
384 Forest Ave #10
Laguna Beach, CA 92651

Lumberyard Chardonnay

It was a hot day. A glass of chilled chardonnay was just what I needed.

Cobb Salad

Cobb Salad was served with wine. I love the pungent blue cheese.

Laguna Beach fire department and police station. I wish I live at one of those houses up on the hill.

Stephen Frank Garden & Home
477 Forest Ave
Laguna Beach, CA 92651
(949) 494-2014
http://www.stephenfrank.com

I love this little store. Lots of gourmet food items, small but great selection of wine, and lots of pretty things to look at. We were also served crackers with this super yummy champagne mustard and parmesan cheese.

See the little light house up there on the hill? It is called the Lighthouse That Never Was. The city had intention to use it when it was built, but somehow it was never used. So now it is just sitting there looking pretty.

(To be continued.....)
