I found Fig Restaurant on Restaurant.com a few months back.  $25 gift certificate was on sale for $2 at that time.  I bought the GC just because I like Fig Restaurant's website.  We had no idea how the food is like and decided to visit only because of the GC.  It turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Fig Restaurant is located inside The Fairmont Miramar Hotel.  The restaurant was small, but lively.

From out seat, we could see the pool area.  I like the sunlight and nice ocean breeze.

Bread

Each of us was given our own bread in a paper bag.

Baguette, yum!

Arugula Spread

We had no idea what this "green" thing was, but it was so good.  I thought it was kiwi at first.  When I asked our waiter what it was, he informed me it was some kind of poisonous plant.  I was like "WHAT?"  and he said "Just kidding."  Ok funny guy.  It was arugula and butter spread.  I finished the whole bread because of this spread.

The Fig Mojito ($12.00)
House-made fig preserves, organic mint, Bacardi light rum, freshly-squeezed lime juice

We shared The Fig Mojito before the food arrived.  This is their signature cocktail and it was sooooo good.  I think every table got one.

Amuse Bouche

Amuse Bouche was sliced tomato.  It tasted like.... sliced tomato.

Fried Oysters with Chorizo Ramoulade ($12.00)

Fried Oysters with Chorizo Ramoulade was recommended by our waiter.  It had a polenta crust.  The chorizo made the oyster salty.  It was tasty.  I only wished there were 8 of these in one order.

Chicken Liver Parfait ($9.00)
Fig marmalade, grilled baguette

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Chicken Liver Parfait!  It was so creamy and even tasted a little sweet.  spread some liver on the grilled baguette, add a little fig marmalade, heaven!

Curly Endive ($13.00)
Soft poached duck egg, crispy pig's ear, cider vinaigrette

Our waiter told us the best way to enjoy the Curly Endive salad was to break up the soft poached duck egg and kind of mix everything together.

And he helped us do so.  This salad was just so good.  The egg yolk mixing together with the endive, crispy pig's ear added texture and flavor, and the cider vinaigrette was sour and sweet.  So good.

Bola, Amarone della Valpolicella, '05 ($25.00)

Dr. P ordered a carafe of Amarone to go with his main dish.  The red wine was smooth and very good.

Twelve Ounce New York Strip ($34.00)

For our main course, Dr. P ordered the Twelve Ounce New York Strip.  The dipping sauce was just too good.  I love the fries with fried sage leaves.

Just looking at that piece of steak.  So tender and buttery.  *Drool*

Pierre Sparr, Gewurztraminer, Alsace, '06 ($9.00)

Dr. P picked a sweet white wine for me.  The Gewurztraminer was exactly the kind of wine I like.  Yum!

Short Rib and Pancetta Meatloaf ($21.00)
Mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli

I got the Short Rib and Pancetta Meatloaf.  I actually thought it was short rib AND meatloaf.  But it was actually short rib meatloaf.  There were big pieces of short rib in the meatloaf.  It was very flavorful.  Definitely the most gourmet-like meatloaf I've ever had.

Coffee ($5.00)

After the feast, coffee for Dr. P and dessert for me!

Fig Bars ($7.00)
Greek yogurt ice cream, port

I picked the Fig Bars because fig everything gotta be their special.  These fig bars tasted like really fancy Newton bars.  haha....  It wasn't too sweet which we liked a lot.  The fresh fig was yummy.  Greek yogurt ice cream was very good with the warm fig bars.

Delicious delicious dinner!  We love this restaurant.  By the way, valet parking was complimentary.  Even better!  I am definitely getting more GC from Restaurant.com.  We'll be back soon!
