MC Hotdog, TriPoets & Free 9 in LA

MC Hotdog is probably the biggest rapper in Taiwan right now. I met him and A-Yue's bandFree 9 back in 2004.  They have been back to LA a few times to perform.  This time they were in LA for a concert, along with TriPoets (參劈), a rap group from Taiwan.  I asked Dr. P to go to the concert with me....

Dr. P:  Hmmm.... I don't know.  I won't understand the lyrics.  I don't know their music, either.
Me:  Why don't you look up MC Hotdog's music video on YouTube and see if you like the music?
Dr. P:  (Found this video on YouTube)  Oh yeah.... that's what I'm talking about, yo!  Hoochie Taiwanese girls in bikinis shaking booties.
Me:  Yeah, there are gonna be lots of girls like that at the concert.
Dr. P:  Yes, we're going FOR SURE!

So here we were, at Club Tatou on Saturday night.  We hung out in their drinking dressing room before the show.  MC Hotdog 熱狗 had major jetlag for the past 2 days.  But he was ready for stage on Saturday night!

Let me take a picture of you while you take a picture of me.  A-Mon 阿蒙 is still so immature!  haha....

Free 9 drummer A-Ping 阿萍 was funny as usual.  We were jokingly saying that all the guys came to the concert for his long hair.  So the whole night he kept on reminding us "No no no!  I am a REAL MAN!"  haha....

Guitar player A-De 阿德.  Whenever he's around, there are always girls girls girls.  Do all girls have a thing for guitar players?

Dr. P started chatting with Shorty 小個 from Tripoets.  He speaks really good English.  You would never guess his real age just by looking at him.

Dr. P also had deep and intelectual conversation with Mo 老莫 from Tripoets about their music influence and English literature.

We watched the show from upstair.  At one point we did went down, but it was so crowded and crazy down there.  Us old decided to stay away from the crowd and just enjoy the concert form our little corner.

Dr. P got into the music and even started bobbing his head.  haha....

I recorded a few songs. This one is called Mr. Soso 差不多先生.

This is an older song, My Life 我的生活.

The crowd just went crazy when MC Hotdog started singing I Love Taiwanese Girls 我愛台妹.

Yes, Taiwanese girls love you, too, MC Hotdog!

During the concert, I ran into John from Tension.  I haven't seen John for years.  I remember when we met he was just a little boy haha....

Dr. P hung out and had a few drinks with MC Hotdog after the show.  He learned some Chinese after the concert.  He's been saying "謝謝啞唬" to me for a week now.

熱狗你下次來可不可以不要這麼沒用的一直時差?下次來侯特嚕趴弄死你們!

期待九月的LA縱貫線演唱會~~~~

  4. Oh my goodness! I can't believe you got to meet MC Hotdog. I've been listening to him for a while when my cousin from Taiwan introduced me to his music back in 2006. If he comes back to the US I will have to fly to LA from DC just to see him perform. That'd be really cool!

    Thanks for the great pix!!!!!

Yeah it sure was a great concert!
Hope you can also see MC Hot Dog in concert soon. Good time!
