[San Gabrile] [Fusion] 上林鐵板燒 Kingswood Teppan Steak House

I tried to take my parents out to eat at least once a week.  When they go out to eat, they always go to the same restaurants and ordering the same dishes.  I like to take them out to try different things.  They haven't had teppanyaki for a long time.  When I suggested to have teppanyaki for lunch, mom was really excited.  Dad didn't like the idea first because he thought it would be too expensive.  He was nice and didn't want me to spend too much money.  But I assured them lunch special at Kingswood isn't expensive at all.

You can pick two items for $9.50 or 3 items for $12.50.  That's a pretty good deal for teppanyaki.

The restaurant was empty... well, on the teppanyaki side.  Kingswood is not just a teppanyaki restaurant now.  They actually have 3 different sections.  One for teppanyaki, one for hot pot, and one for regular Chinese food.  Oh they even had a sushi counter.  Even though the restaurant was quite empy, service was still slow.  They were way understaffed.  The sushi chef was also the host.  The teppanyaki chef was also waiter and they were the one that brought food to the Chinese food side.  Talking about multi-tasking....

主廚湯 Soup

I like their mushroom and onion soup.

沙拉 Salad

The fresh salad with ginger dressing was good, too.  I like the boiled egg in the salad.

鐵板蛋炒飯 Teppan Special Fried Rice ($1.75)

We ordered two Teppan Special Fried Rice to share among the three of us.  There were a lot of butter in the fried rice, which made it so tasty.  Forget about calorie counts when you order the fried rice.

迷你牛排 Mini Steak

We all got the two items combo.  Mom and dad ordered the same thing, mini steak and sliced mutton.  The mini steak was cooked with black pepper sauce.  It was a little spicy and very good with rice.

羊肉片 Sliced Mutton

Sliced Mutton was cooked with mushroom sauce.  It was sauteed with onion. Really tender and tasty.

豬肉片 Sliced Pork

I got the sliced pork with black pepper sauce.  It was good, but the mutton was even better.

魚排 Fish Steak

The fish steak was delicious.  One of my favorite item to get at Kingswood.

Even though there were only 3 of us at the table, the chef still did all of the standard teppanyaki "tricks", including the onion volcano thing.

蔬菜 Vegetable

Of course the meal included the standard teppanyaki vegetables, zucchini, onion, and bean sprout.

Lunch Combination of Two ($9.50)

My finished plate.  Some people like to eat while the chef is cooking.  But I usually just nibble and watch the chef perform, then really start eating after the chef finishes cooking everything.

杏仁豆腐 Almond Tofu

Lunch special even included a dessert.  Almond Tofu is always yummy.

Portion was pretty big.  We all had leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com for dinner.  The price is much cheaper than Benihana.  And I think the food tastes better, too.  It was more Asian style and had more flavor.  Kingswood has the same lunch special on the weekend, too.  I'm gonna take Dr. P here to try next time!

  3. I love tepanyaki! I've been thinking about going back to Kingswood for tepanyaki for quite some time now. Never got a chance to go.

It's a little far from you. But might be worth a trip for their lunch special.

  4. Went to try the place 2 days after reading it here. XD It was great, but the black pepper sauce was a bit too spicy for my liking.

Yeah the black pepper sauce is on the spicy side.
Next time maybe you can try the mushroom sauce?
