We had a late breakfast on Saturday morning.  I got hungry around 3pm.  We headed to Fulfilled in Beverly Hills for some afternoon snack.

Fulfilled is a small pastry shop that specialize in imagawa-yaki, a.k.a. ima, or as us Taiwanese called it "car wheel cake".  The place is small.  There are only 3 tables, 6 seats.

Menu on the wall.  9 different flavors of ima offered.

After we placed our orders, the owner Susumu Tsuchihashi started making the imagawa-yakis.

Lil Misa's Tea ($3.75)
Azuki Green Tea Honey Latte

I had Lil Misa's Tea while waiting for our imas.  It had a really subtle gree tea flavor.  It wasn't sweet at all.  The only sweetness came from the azuki bean paste.  We really like this drink.

Water ($1.75)

Dr. P got a bottle of water.  Cutest bottle!

We got 2 savory ones and 2 sweet ones.  Started with the savory imas.

Spicy Samurai ($2.95)
Chicken Apple Sausage, Pepper Jack Cheese, Diced Chili, Fresh Cilantro

Spicy Samurai was our favorite ima of the day.  Inside the soft sweet bread, there were chicken aple sausage, pepper jack cheese, diced chili and cilantro.  Love the spicy and gooey melted cheese.

Sumo Italiano ($2.95)
Prosciutto di Parma, Smoked Ham, Aged Parmesan, Fresh Basil

Sumo Italiano with proscuitto, ham, parmesan cheese and basil was very good, too.  But the Spicy Samurai definitely killed the Sumo Italiano.

The sweet imas had powder sugar dusted on top.

Karaoke Kitty ($2.95)
Strawberry, Cream Cheese, Ghirardelli White Chocolate

Karaoke Kitty was super super yummy.  Strawberry, cream cheese, and Ghirardelli white chocolate!

Honey Yakuza ($2.95)
Goat Cheese, Mission Fig, Honey, Walnut, Cracked Black Pepper

I like the Honey Yakuza a lot, too.  Goat cheese, fig, honey, walnut and black pepper.  Even though it was listed under the sweet ima menu, this ima was more of a savory AND sweet combo.  It was rich and full of different flavors.

I really really like fulfilled.  I hope it can become the next Bread Papa's and open more stores.  I heart imas!

if you are from taiwan, then should know there's always 2 flavors only, red beans and custards :)-

There are definitely more than 2 flavors in Taiwan.

  3. Oh! I've always wondered what these were called. I love the custard ones. Didn't know they put other things in their either.

You can get the Chinese version in front of San Gabriel Superstore, too.

  6. To KJ Chen(above):
There are more than 2 flavors in Taiwan. You forgot 蘿蔔絲!
Also, there are some places with more than 10 flavors!

    To Eileen:
The water bottle is really cute!
Are the prices above for one ima only?

    我也是想要說蘿蔔絲的車輪餅到處都是呀
Yup, each ima is $2.95. The red bean one is $1.95, everything else is $2.95.
    I think I saw a sign saying buy 6 get 1 free.

  9. I think KJ Chen was joking about the two flavors. Those are the two real flavors ;)

Food looks amazing, but Beverly Hills is too far from SGV to go down there just for this :(

Maybe next time you are in the BH area, you can give it a try.
