Mom was saying she felt like having ice cream after our lunch at Shrimp House.  I mentioned Pinkberry, and mom said she heard about Pinkberry from her friends.  Her friend told her the "famous" yogurt ice cream is really good.  So I offered to take my mom to Pinkberry to try.

We went to the Monrovia location.  This place is huge!  I think it's the biggest Pinkberry I've been to.

The store was bright and spacious.

Pomegranate w/ Blueberry & Kiwi

Mom got Pomegranate with blueberry and kiwi.  She took a bite, and said, "hmmm.... nothing too special about this ice cream.  Why is it famous?"  She also thought the blueberry didn't taste all that fresh.

Original w/ Blueberry & Mochi

I got original with blueberry and mochi.  I still like mine ice cream, and thought my blueberry tasted fine.  The mochi was so yummy.  I always get the original because all flavors tasted the same to me for some reason.

Green Tea w/ Blueberry & Mochi

We also got a Green Tea with blueberry and mochi to-go for my sister.  The Pinkberry girl even put a bag of ice in the plastic bag for us.  But the ice cream still melted before we got http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.

So mom thought Pinkberry was just ok.  She said it's good just to try once.  But she probably won't come back again, especially now she knows how expensive it is.  Yes, it was REALLY expensive.  3 orders was $14.  (But thanks for Sybil!  I used the $10 GC!! ^^)  Some guy came in and got a large one with 2 toppings, it was $9!!!  My mom kept on saying things like "I can buy a pork chop rice with this small bowl of ice cream", "I can buy a few orders of dim sum with this small bowl of ice cream", I can buy a bowl of pho with this small bowl of ice cream", etc....  And I have to agree with mom.  So even though I like Pinkberry, I think I'll only go there once in a LONG while.

  1. Yummo, looks good but so much $$ for a scoop of yogurt and some diced fruit. Your pictures are making me hungry. :)

    I know. Way too expensive!

  2. Have you tried the "C Cup" on Las Tunas in Temple City? I have not tried their flavored yogurt but the original is definitely better than Cefiore, Yogurtland and Tuttifrutti. Right now it's 2 toppings free with each order. I haven't been to Pinkberry for quite a while so I don't even remember what their yogurt tasted like. Your post made me wanted to go and try again sans fruit. Like you I only order original flavor.

What a funny name! Nope, never heard of the place.
But I'll give it a try next time I have frozen yogurt crave.

  3. I think I am the only one who don't like pinkberry. Tastes very sour to me.

It is definitely sour comparing to regular ice cream.

  4. I think the yogurt craze is finally starting to die down.

I still like it, though. My fave yogurt place is Nubi (in Focus Plaza).

Oh I saw that place last time I was at Focus plaza.
I'll try it next time I go there!

  5. Ooo...one of my friends had the exact combo flavor as you did- original with mochi and blueberries! I got to try some of it too and it tasted very good, but I agree it is very expensive (50 cents an ounce, but the topping cost might make that price cheaper?). Probably the only place which has a very similar flavor to pinkberry is Nubi Yogurt. I want nubi to open up in Arcadia mall soon! They already have the location across Tokyo Table.

Never try Nubi before. There are just way too many frozen yogurt stores now.

  6. I foud that Haagan Daz has a favor called "Tart" Forzen yogurt which is an affordable version of it.I rather to eat HD, then got robbed by yogiberry (we don't have pinkyberry in MD, we have yogiberry :-))

When you move to Cali, you have to try Yogurtland!
