A while ago, KFC gave away 1 piece of their new grilled chicken per person for free. I took my mom with me to the KFC near my house. We decided if the line was too long, then we would just leave. Surprisingly, the line inside the store wasn't too long. It was about 3pm and about 20 or so people in line. Even though the line wasn't long, but everyone was ordering extra items (somehow everyone had a coupon sheet in hand) so the line wasn't really moving at all. We went in to the store because there was no car at drive-thru. So we assumed that the free chicken was only given in the store. After waiting for about 5 minutes or so, I went up to the counter to ask the girl if we could get the free offer at drive-thru. The answer was yes. So we went back to our car, and got the free chicken.... no wait. (Apparently, people in El Monte don't drive too much....)
Kentucky Grilled Chicken
The new grilled chicken wasn't bad. Personally I think it tasted much better than their fried chicken. But comparing to El Pollo Loco, KFC's version wasn't as flavorful. The meat was pretty tender though.
2 Apple Turnovers ($0.99)
We also got the Apple turnovers to snack. Mom didn't like it at all. She thought it was too oily, the skin was too thin, and the filling was too watery.
I have to agree with mom. McDonald's version is much much better.
Kentucky Grilled Chicken & Biscuit
About a week later, there was a even better free deal offered. This time each person can get 2 pieces grilled chicken, biscuit, plus 2 sides! So of course, I went back to KFC to take full advantage of the free offer. Honestly, would I spend money to buy the grilled chicken? Probably not. I would much rather have El Pollo Loco's grilled chicken. But if it's free, why not?
Cole Slaw and Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
I didn't get to choose the side. The guy at KFC just gave me cole slaw and mashed potatoes.
Snack Size Bowl ($1.49)
I also got a Snack Size Bowl from their value menu only because I was curious what's in it and how it tastes like. The mini bowl was: mashed potatoes, gravy, popcorn chicken, corn + cheese. It was actually pretty tasty. I like the popcorn chicken.
So if you still haven't got your free 2 piece meal, here is the coupon. Who can say no to free food?

Oh that sucks.
The grilled chicken looks good but definitely not as crispy looking as El Pollo Loco! It is also weird that they made the fake grill marks on them. Why not just say baked chicken/ roasted chicken instead? No need to lie to the consumer instead :).

The grill mark was fake? So they didn't actually grill the chicken, but baked it instead?
Then why do they called it the "grilled" chicken?
我之前就是去到KFC才發現只能領到rain check form, 心想都來了就還是自掏腰包試了試烤雞。我只能說, 很難吃! 我去的那家分店環境又非常非常糟糕, 店員又不專業, 等我真的拿到rain check可能也不考慮再去了!! (吃的時候旁邊還有一隻蛾在飛, 噁!)
