[Los Angeles] [Korean] Ham Ji Park

Ham Ji Park
3407 W 6th St, #101-C
Los Angeles, CA 90020

想吃這家韓國餐廳好久囉!上周終於來吃到他們有名的烤豬肋排和排骨馬鈴薯湯,果然真的超好吃,大力推薦給大家喔!

I've been wanting to try Ham Ji Park forever.  I read about their famous Pork Spare Ribs and Pork Neck Stew on Yelp and the pictures made me drool.  Mr. Park and I finally went to Ham Ji Park last Saturday.

The restaurant was almost full when we arrived at 6:30pm.  The waiter asked if we would like to sit at smoking or non-smoking area.  I guess Korean restaurant doesn't really care about the "no smoking indoor" law in California.  The front half of the restaurant is the smoking area.  We didn't want to inhale second hand smoke while eating so opt to sit in the non-smoking area.

Ham Ji Park doesn't have too many items on their menu.  Most people just come for the BBQ Pork Spare Ribs and Pork Neck Stew.

I like the pitcher of refreshing cold barley tea they left on our table.

There's a grill on the table top.  But the BBQ Pork Spare Ribs is parepared in the kitchen so we didn't use the grill.  The restaurant offered six small Korean dishes that day.  They were: kimchi, radish chunks, strips of radish, braccoli, cauliflower and bean sprout.  They were all pretty standard.

BBQ Pork Spare Ribs ($16.99)

This is the famour BBQ Pork Spare Ribs.  Even though it looks spicy, it's not spicy at all.  Whatever marinate sauce they used was just tasty.  The ribs were cooked just right.  Tender, juicy and simply delicious.  I love to chew on the bone.  I think the meat near the bone is the most delicious part.

Pork Neck Stew with Potato ($15.00)

Pork Neck Stew with Potato is what I would called typical Korean comfort food.  The pork in the stew was so tender.  The meat just fell out of the bone.  The soup was a little bit spicy.  I like to eat the stew with rice.  I can eat this stew everyday.

We also got a bottle of Hite.  Beer was a perfect match with BBQ Pork.  The portion was huge.  The food was enough for 4 people.  We had tons of food to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.

I really like this restaurant.  Both the pork ribs and stew are so yummy.  I can't wait to go back again!

  1. My mom and I accidentally discovered the Korean "pork neck stew with potato" in a restaurant on Olympic Blvd half a year ago, and just fell in love with it, definitely comforting :P

The funny thing was that the restaurant had no English menu and none of the waitresses could speak English. Just so happened one of them could speak Chinese!!! That's why we could stay and order some good food! =) I like how their rice has 'red beans'

Do you remember the name or location of the restaurant?
I would love to go try it sometimes.

  2. We now buy ribs from Korean market. We marinate with BBQ sauce and then pan fry the ribs. Little J loooooooves the ribs and can finish dinner faster than usual.

I just bought an indoor grill.
Now I can go buy Korean BBQ and cook it at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com too. ^^

  3. This is the BEST Korean restaurant in Los Angeles in my opinion. When I worked in Century City, I would come here every week just for the Gam Ja Tang (Pork neck & Potato soup). It goes so well with rice. For those that never been here before, you HAVE to try it!!

Note: This place is closed on Sundays. If you have room for more food, IceKiss makes a pretty good Pa Bing Su (Korean shaved ice) next door or you can hit up Pinkberry across the street. There is valet parking for $1.50 on the corner of W 6th St. and Catalina, across from the Chevron. Ham Ji Park will validate, don't forget.

The old lady owns Ham Ji Park is very nice, and is friends with one of my friend's mom, so she usually gives us extra food. Definitely, give it a try :D

Bonchon chicken is also next door, if you're in the mood for some hot & spicy korean chicken (tondak). It's better than Kyochon. OK, I'm rambling, but Eileen is right, those 2 are the MUST gets for this place and add the beer or soju with your meal. Also, the Kimchi Jigae (kimchi soup) is really off the hook! Try it! LOL

I was eyeing Ice Kiss after our meal.
But it was empty so we didn't go in.
Next time we go to Ham Ji Park I'll go for Korea shaved ice.
I tried Bonchon chicken. It's pretty good, but expansive.

  5. Hi Eileen! I'm a big fan of your food blog :) I love your reviews!
I remembered reading your review of this place a while back and today I found that they are now listed on Restaurant.com with $10 and $25 certificates. :) With the new 80% off code, it would be great to go here! Just thought you'd like to know..

    Thanks for the info, Stephanie.
