[Las Vegas] [Buffet] Wynn Buffet

We left Los Angeles about 9:00am last Friday morning and drove straight to Vegas. (Well, with a quick stop at the Coach outlet... I just couldn't resisit.) Why did we leave so early? Because we wanted to go to Wynn Buffet for lunch.

I've read mixed reviews about Wynn Buffet. Some people say this is the best buffet in Las Vegas. And it's probably the most expensive buffet in Vegas, too.

We got there around 2pm. There was a very short line of people waiting.

Lunch price is much cheaper than dinner. Also I don't like to eat too much for dinner. So having buffet lunch was the perfect option. The lunch buffet price at Wynn is $21.95 per person.

We went up to the cashier to pay first. Then we waited in the seating line for about 10 minutes. The hostesses wore a really bright fushia color uniform and it looked so tacky.

The seating area was huge. After we seated, we waited for the server to come to take our drink order. Waited and waited and no server. They weren't that busy so where were the servers? I was hungry and losing my patience. So Dr. Park let me go get food first while he waited for the server.

The serving stations were divided by cuisines or courses. There are: salad, soup, shellfish, seafood, pizza, Italian, American, the grill, Asian, chilled seafood, sushi and dessert. The stations were very clean, but not well stocked. We came toward the end of the lunch buffet hour. Some trays were almost empty and they didn't add any fresh food.

This was my first plate. Shrimp cocktail was good. I really like marinated herring. Everytime I see this at buffet I always get it. It tasted a lot like mackerel. A little sour and fishy. I like it! BBQ bun was bad. It tasted like it had been sitting there for a long time. Spicy miso udon was not spicy, and I couldn't taste the miso, either. The udon was mushy. No good. Orange chicken was alright. It's just like the Panda Express kind of orange chicken. The sea bass was the best dish in this plate. So soft and tasty. Spiced lamb leg was delicious, too. Very tender. But they didn't serve it anymore when I went back for second. The spicy tuna hand roll was pretty sad. The rice was mushy and the seaweed was soggy. Even though they had a big sushi station, they only served spicy tuna hand roll, cucumber roll and some sad looking california roll. Very disappointed about their sushi station. At the sushi station, they also served individual salad in cute little cups. I grabbed a marinated mushroom salad.

This was Dr. Park's first plate. I'm all about quantity and he's all about quality.

Dr. Park also got a small bowl of gazpacho soup and a cup of salad with feta cheese. The gazpacho was pretty good. Very refreshing.

My mushroom salad was really good. Mushroom was marinated in balsamic dressing. Very tasty. Dr. Park's salad had no dressing and it tasted like salad with no dressing. I don't know it was meant to have no dressing or they forgot to put dressing on it.

My second plate looked pretty good. My mom told me the way to eat buffet is to focus on the seafood. And that was what I did. Clam chowder was rich, but a bit salty. Red snapper, salmon and sole were the three different fish I got. None of them were as good as the sea bass. The meatball was so dry and tough. Gross! Mushroom ravioli was good. Wish I got more of this. The corn was really really good. My favorite one on this dish.

My last plate of food. BBQ rib was good, but cold. Spanich rice and guacamole was yummy. Potato and beans were alright. We were really full at this point. But still gotta eat some dessert.

They have a huge dessert area in the middle of the buffet. Tons of pastry, cakes and ice cream.

Everything looked so good. Even though I was full, still got a big plate. Don't I look happy? Yes, I was happy!

Well, the dessert looked good, but tasted just alright. The http://www.eileenlikestoeat.commade ice cream was good. I got pineapple and lemon. Both were perfect for summer hot weather. I also got cheesecake, cupcake, chocolate tart, caremel eclair, banana mousse, apple candy and chocolate cake. My favorite was the chocolate cake. The rest were only ok.

Dr. Park also went and got a plate of dessert. His big dessert was 3 pieces of watermelon. (-_-")

So what did we think of Wynn buffet? I thought it was just alright and didn't really live up to its hype. The selection was good, but nothing really stood out. There weren't much sushi nor seafood like we expected. Maybe there's a big difference between lunch and dinner? Well, at least we got really full. Will we come back again? Probably not.

Up next: Wynn Las Vegas.......

  1. I'll say the price are a little bit too much for the quality if there were no dessert serving...

I feel we can have much better food with that price at somewhere else.
Well, but at least we tried the famous Wynn buffet.
The first time, probably the last time, too.

  3. I had buffet dinner there one time, it was all right in my book. I like Bellagio's better, same price, better food.

Me, too! I like Bellagio's buffet better.
Another buffet I really like is Mandalay Bay.

  4. Yes I totally agree. Bellagio's buffet is better. Wynn's buffet isn't worth its price. Also, its hotel rooms are overpriced. You can get a bigger and fancier room for a cheaper price at Venetian.

I also like Bellagio's buffet better.
Talking about Venetian, I stayed there once.
Ahhhh.... it's like a palace castle there. I felt so at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com....
Yes, sometimes I like to believe I'm a princess.... haha....

  5. Dear Eileen,

Welcome back and thank you for sharing your Vegas trip with us..........

I don't think Wynn's buffet is that great.....I would rather to eat some celebrity chef restaurants in Vegas, something I usually do when in Vegas....I am never big on buffets......

    I used to love buffets.
But after this trip, I think I like restaurant food more than buffet food now.
Next time we'll definately try some celebrity chefs' restaurants.

  7. Actually, I have to go against the crowd. Wynn Buffet, to me is the best one in Vegas. I've been there 7-8 times now and it hasn't disappointed me, yet. We usually go here for dinner or their champagne brunch, and I'd load up on the seafood as well. I'm not sure if there were any crab legs available for lunch, but I usually get a plate of crab legs and the tiger cocktail shrimps. The last two times I was there I had the lamb chops and prime rib, and it was really good. The Osso Buco there is also pretty good. Maybe I am biased, but I'd highly recommend Wynn. :D

Not to put down Bellagio, I've been there many times and I like it as well. I think they have better dessert than Wynn.

Anyways, the food looks great, and I need to make a return trip to Vegas soon!

No crab legs! No prime ribs!
Maybe it's just lunch.... I dont' know. We were quite disappointed.

  8. I don't like Wynn buffet as much either, sometimes we eat there cuz we room there. I much prefer Bellagio buffet, cheaper and better. Paris buffet is pretty good too, even cheaper than Bellagio.

I've never tried the buffet at Paris.
But we walked by the buffet and the line was so long on Sunday morning.
Maybe we'll try it on our next trip to Vegas.

  9. I actually think Wynn's buffet is the best comparing to Bellagio's and Paris'. I guess the thing is you didn't get to try their dinner menu. Many people go there late and stay until dinner time.

Maybe that's what we should've done.
We should've stayed till 3:30pm and check out the dinner buffet.

  10. 真的看起來還好而已耶....
    大概豪華在他的裝潢?

    可能晚餐會比較豪華吧
    但是這個價錢吃這樣的午餐
    還真的挺貴的

  11. Eileen,
I was there last week! We were there for lunch and it really didn't impress me. Bellagio's buffet is the best I've had on this trip, but I heard great things about Rio's. NEXT TIME, for sure.

I really want to try Rio's seafood buffet, too.
So many places wanna try, so little time in Vegas. >_<

  12. I agreed, I am not impress w/ Wynn's buffet, a bit pricy and food are average only... my all time fav are the Mirage and Planet Hollywood~

    I've never tried Mirage's buffet.
We had Planet Hollywood's Spice Market Buffet for sunday brunch.
It was way better than Wynn buffet!

  13. my god .. you had so many on your dessert plate .

  14. The Wynn buffet is the best in Vegas and worth twice the price. The others are way behind.

Maybe we should've went for dinner.
Lunch buffet really was just ok and didn't live up to the hype for us.
