[Los Angeles] [Korean] Authentic Korean Dumpling

Authentic Korean Dumpling

Los Angeles, CA, 90006

有天開車經過這家韓國大餃子店看到門口的菜色照片,感覺好像很好吃,這天和同事一起來買晚餐,餃子果然大顆好吃,還有炸醬麵也很讚呢!

On my way to work one day, I forgot to make a turn on a certain street and had to take another route to work in Korea Town.  I ended up taking Irolo St and passed by this restaurant, Authentic Korean Dumplings.  They had giant photos of dumplings and noodles on the outside wall.  I couldn't stop staring at the delicious photo while waiting for the red light to turn green.  I couldn't stop thinking about noodle and dumpling when I got to work.  So I made my co-worker Tom to get takeout with me at this restaurant.

Sorry I only got a picture of the restaurant from the back side, without those yummy food pictures.  This restaurant was seriously a hole in the wall place.  It was located in a little shack at the corner of some Korean strip mall.

The restaurant was tiny, maybe 6 tables.  They had a take out winder right by the door.  This is a mom and pop kinda restaurant.  I think it was the wife that was cooking in the kitchen, while the husband took care of everything else.  The man was very nice and polite.

Black Bean Sauce Noodle & King Dumpling (US$6.99)

I got the Black Bean Sauce Noodle and King Dumpling combo.  It came with two dumplings.

The brown sauce for the noodle came in a separate container.

Mix the brown sauce with the noodle, then you get delicious "jja jang mien".  The noodle was chewy, or as us Taiwanese described as "QQ".  The brown sauce had onion, cabbage, zucchini and pork in it.  This Korean version of "jja jang mien" tastes sweeter than the Chinese version.  They are quite different and I like both versions.

The king dumpling was indeed "king" size.  It was about the size of my fist.  The restaurant offers 3 kinds of pork dumpling: leek, kimchi and glass noodle.  I was given one leek and one glass noodle dumplings.  Really tasty dumplings.  Yum!

Pan Fried Meat Dumpling ($5.99)

Tom got some fried dumplings.  I didn't taste it, but he finished them quickly.  Must be good.

Pork Cutlet ($6.99)

He also got Pork Cutlet.  Again, I didn't taste it, but Tom said it was good and finished the whole box.

The portion of my noodle and dumpling combo was huge.  I could only eat half and took the other half http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com for next day lunch.  The food was delicious and price was very reasonable.  We had found another good place to get take-out around the office.

  1. Well done Eileen! Great find! I will definitely give this place a try when I get the itch to consume a great quantity of carbo (which is, like, twice a week). ;-)

You don't need to drive out of the way to come here.
It's just a typical family style restaurant.
But if you're in the area, it's great to get some take out food from here.

  3. 以前在SC唸書時我就住這家店附近
    距離不到500 feet
    吃過幾次,口味還算ok而且價位在那一帶算是經濟又實惠
    當時還有位服務生大嬸會說中文
    不知道現在還在不在...

    我們那次去只有看到大叔
    他們會說中文啊?下次我試試看
