We go to Diamond Jamboree plaza all the time.  Every time we pass by Crepes de Paris, the little cafe is always somewhat empty.  I wonder how they manage to stay in business, but still sort of want to try their crepes.  I saw a "$10 for $20 Worth of Delectable Crepes and More at Crepes de Paris" deal on Deal Perk, I thought it would be a perfect chance to try the place.  (P.S. Deal Perk is another website that is similar to Groupon.)

Crepes de Paris is a really cute little cafe.  We were supposed to order from the counter and pay first.  But we sat down to study the menu, and the girl behind the counter came up to us to take our orders since we were the only customers.  Also I think she did that to make some tips.

The walls have cute drawings.  Dr. P noticed a guy wearing high heels.  Is that how man dress in Paris?  haha....

Waiting for our food.... and I thought Dr. P looked handsome that day.  Hehehehe....

Paris Special Savory Crepe ($9.95)
Chicken, Mushrooms, Black Olives & Mozerella Cheese w/ Garlic Cream Sauce

Dr. P ordered Paris Special Savory Crepe.  We love the garlic cream sauce.  Very tasty!  Lots of chicken and mushroom inside the crepe.  This was a very rich and filling crepe.  We couldn't finish it and brought the leftover http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  I heated it up in the microwave the next day, and the plate was filled with butter and fat.  It was pretty disgusting.  I think the butter came from the cream sauce.  I didn't feel the crepe was oily when eaten at the shop.  Well, I guess I won't order this one again knowing how much fat is in the sauce.

Chicken Salad Sandwich ($7.95)
Lettuce, tomato, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts & aioli with side salad

I ordered Chicken Salad Sandwich.  Two things went wrong with this order.  First, is this chicken salad sandwich?  There was no dried cranberries, no toasted walnuts, and no chicken salad.  Our receipt had "chicken salad sandwich" written, so it was the kitchen's mistake?  Second, they have a "daily special" sign saying that any sandwich + side salad + drink is $4.99.  I ordered the daily special with an ice tea.  The waitress didn't say anything.  But when she gave us the bill, we were charged by full price of the sandwich plus the ice tea.  She said that we couldn't order the daily special because we used the gift certificate from Deal Perk.  But why didn't she say something when we placed the order?  So I ended up paying $10 for a $4.99 daily special order.  I'm not happy about that at all.  Well, at least the sandwich was good.  I actually like the sandwich a lot.  The chicken (or turkey?)  was very flavorful.  Vegetable was fresh, and the sauce they used in the sandwich was delicious.  Salad was good, too.

Favorite Sweet Crepe ($6.95)
Fresh Strawberries, raspberry coulis, chantilly cream & powered sugar

We ordered a dessert crepe to share.  Favorite Sweet Crepe was made with strawberries and chantilly cream.

Lots of fresh strawberries inside the crepe.  I actually like the strawberries more than the crepe.  We ate all the strawberries, but left most of the crepe uneaten.

Crepes de Paris is alright.  The crepes were just ok.  I like their sandwiches more.  But the service definitely needs improvement.  They need to be more upfront with the customers.  (Maybe not "they", just that one server girl.)  And because of that, I don't think I want to come back again.

  3. Did the discount coupon say that specials were excluded? (If not, I would have demanded not being charged full price for that sandwich special) And did their menu state that their chicken-salad sandwiches came with toasted walnuts and cranberries? (it sure looks like a chicken sandwich to me!) I would have took a bite or two and then asked the waitress if it was the right sandwich that you were expecting...I wonder how she would have reacted?

I can't remember if it said specials were excluded or not.
But no matter what, the waitress should told us when we ordered, don't you think?
I am pretty sure they gave us the wrong sandwich.
But I thought it would be too much trouble to make them re-make one, and just ate it.
It turned out to be a pretty good sandwich so I am happy.

  4. Every time I go to that plaza to get bread at 85C, I think the same thing: that the place is so empty. And I wonder how they stay in business. I've been curious about the crepes there but never tried it.

How do you stay in business?
    I still wonder....

  5. We tried this once and never came back. I didn't think their food was good.

What did you have? Crepe or sandwich?

  6. Seriously? You guys are a bunch of idiots.

    I have some suggestions:

    1. If you are incapable of reading menus or figuring out how a coupon works just stick with McDonalds. The 99 cent menu is ALWAYS 99 cents. That should make things a tad easier for you. With this free time you can concentrate on expanding your waistline.

    2. If you are such cheap bastards consider packing your lunch and eating by yourself in the breakroom. It's cheaper and healthier and most likely no one enjoys being in your presence anyways. Especially the waitstaff or the owners who showed up to MAKE MONEY not serve cheap asses like yourselves.

    3. Once again, restaurants are in business to MAKE MONEY, shocking concept I know.

    4. When you eat at a restaurant they prepare food with taste in mind. That means, butter, fat, oil, etc....Once again, I know, shocking concept. If you think about it, if the food didn't taste good, how would they be able to entice fine customers like yourselves to come back and use your coupons?

I know this won't make a difference but I thought I'd give it a try. Fire away, minions.

Thanks for your comment. I think you missed the point.
My point was that they need to be upfront about the charges.
