We were both feeling like having sushi for lunch on Wednesday.  By the time I got back from school, it was already 2pm.  We called around a few places, and found out that most Japanese restaurants close for lunch around 2pm.  Dr. P suggested Kula Sushi since they stay opened the entire afternoon.  Hey, if revolving sushi places all stay opened in the afternoon, what about that new revolving sushi restaurant, Sushilicious?

Sushilicious opened its door maybe about 1 or 2 month ago.  They were just putting on a more permanent sign on the day we went.

The restaurant was a lot smaller than Kula Sushi.  We sat at a comfy booth.  Since it was a late lunch, and the restaurant wasn't busy, there weren't that many sushi plates on the revolving belt.  The sushi chefs asked us to order directly from them.  We like it that way because everything we got was super fresh.  Their rolls have some very unique names.  If you do not know what are in the rolls, just read the description on the revolving belt.  We saw Weapon of Mass Destruction on the belt, but it didn't have any description.  We asked the sushi chef what are on the WMD roll.  His answer was, "we don't have it.  There is no weapon of mass destruction.  It was never found, remember?"  hahahaha....  He said it was their inside joke.  That was funny.

This restaurant is very colorful.  From their green wall, to the white booth, to the pastel color plates.  Different colors on the plates mean different prices.  We saw it on the white board by the door that for lunch special, any 5 colored plate = $10.  Now that's a good deal.  We should try to come back before 2:30pm next time.

They also offer bento boxes if sushi alone cannot fill you up.

Ginger & Wasabi

They use real grated wasabi!

Spicy Tuna Roll ($3.75)

The first plate we grabbed was Spicy Tuna Roll.  I like spicy tuna roll with crunchy cucumber in it.

Seared Albacore Sushi ($2.75)

Seared Albacore Sushi was freshly made for us.  I like the spices the chef sprinkled on the fish.

Salmon Sushi ($2.75)

This was one really good salmon sushi.  They gave us really big piece of fish here.  We also had 2 plates of yellowtail sushi, and I forgot to take pictures for both plates?!?!  It looked too good on the plate so we ate them right away.

Napolean Dynamite Roll ($2.25)
Red snapper, cucumber, spicy chili dressing

I grabbed Napolean Dynaminte Roll from the revolving belt.  The sushi chef saw and said he would make me a fresher one.  That was really nice.  This roll was SPICY!

Tempura Shrimp Hand Roll ($2.25)

Tempura Shrimp Hand Roll was their special hand roll of the day.  It was made right there so the shrimp was hot and crispy when the chef brought it to us.  It also had crab salad in the hand roll.  This was really really good.

Chopped Scallop Sushi ($2.25)

Chopped Scallop Sushi was fresh and tasty.

Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice ($3.25)

Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice had the finely chopped spicy tuna and some bigger pieces of tuna on top of crispy rice.  It also had a thin slice of jalapeno on top, and drizzled with eel sauce.  We like it.

Irrational Exuberance Roll ($4.00)
California roll topped with baked salmon, scallops, onions, and spicy aioli topped with tsume sauce

I don't even know what does exuberance means, but I like this Irrational Exuberance Roll, a lot!  Lots of salmon, scallops and onion with mayo, baked in the oven on top of California roll, how can you not love that?  It tasted like dynamite on top of Cali roll.  Delicious!

Sweet Potato Croquettes ($3.25)

Sweet Potato Croquettes was really crispy, and didn't feel oily at all.  I've never had sweet potato croquettes before.  And I love sweet potato, so I thought I would like this.  But turned out that I still think the regular potato croquet is better.  The sweet potato ones tasted just too sweet for me.

It didn't seemed like we ate a lot from the plate, but we were really full.

Lemony Baked Salmon California Roll

Just as we were waiting for our check, the chef brought a plate to us and said, "I hope you guys have room for some more sushi!"  He said that this was a new item that they want to put on the menu.  He wanted us to try it and let him know what we think.  Nice!  It was California roll with baked salmon+mayo+roe on top, and there were lemon slices between each piece.  We love it!  The roll had a wonderful citrus aroma to it from the lemon which gave this roll its unique twist.  We really hope to see this item on their menu soon.

We like Sushilicious a lot.  The food was fresh and very tasty.  Service was exceptional.  Plus I love their cute colors.  We will be back very very soon!!

  3. Oh this place looks nice. I've been wondering if there are more places like Kula nearby. I will have to put it on my list of places to visit next time.

    This place is really cute.
They have more fusion sushi rolls than Kula sushi.
    Hope you'll like it. ^^

  4. This place looks very new and fresh. I love the oh so bright colors.

It's a hip kind of sushi restaurant.
The colors reminded me of Yogurtland & Pinkberry.

  6. I have to say I was really disappointed with this place. I felt like most of their rolls were very "saucey" and tasted very monotonous. Either mayo or sweet sauce. The rice were falling apart on us too. The freshness of the seafood was just average. I felt this place was overpriced for what they sell. Service was nice and friendly tho.

I thought the price was overpriced also.
We went in the afternoon and were the only customers in the store.
So we just placed the orders with sushi chef, and he made it freshly for us.
I think our sushi and rolls had better quality because of that.
