Dr. P's brother came down to OC to take care of some "business" with Dr. P. After they are done with everything and came back to Irvine, it was already almost 10pm. We were starving! They wanted fast food, but I didn't. I suggested to go to Chili's for their $20 for 2 special, but only found out that they no longer offered the special when we got there. So we headed over to China garden Seafood for some late night Chinese. But.... right when we got to that plaza, we saw the Korean BBQ place Shik Do Rak was still full of people. We changed our mind and decided to have all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, but when the waitress was about to sit us, she said that we only have 30 minutes to eat because they close at 10:30pm. And they didn't mean stopping serving food at 10:30pm. She said we have to leave the restaurant at 10:30pm. Hmmm.... So we changed our mind back to Chinese food.
明爐火鴉-半隻 Roasted Duck-Half ($7.99)
Roasted Duck was really tasty. The duck wasn't very meaty though.
梅菜扣肉 Aged Vegetable with Pork ($6.50)
Aged Vegetable with Pork had good flavor, and the meat was really tender. Some pieces were so fat that it wasn't really edible, unless you like eating pure fat. The sauce was so good over rice, although it was oily and fat.
魚香雞片 Chicken Szechuan Style ($6.50)
Even though the dish is called Chicken Szechuan Style, this dish didn't taste Szechuan at all. It wasn't spicy, but more like a sweet taste. The chicken was tender, and I like the bamboo shoot and green bell pepper in the dish.
鮮蝦炒飯 Shrimp Fried Rice ($9.95)
Shrimp Fried Rice didn't have much taste. I like eating the fried rice with their http://www.eileenlikestoeat.commade spicy chili sauce. Lots of big shrimp though.
We were happy with our late night dinner at China Garden. One thing I miss about LA is that there are plenty of late night eats everywhere. But in OC, it seems like the only choices are fast food restaurants. Are there any other late night eats near Irvine?
