Dr. P and his brother was in my side of town on Saturday so we went out for dinner together.  Dr. P suggested to take his brother to Indian for delicious waitress Taiwanese food.

We got there at 5:30pm and found out they open at 6:00pm.  People started showing up to wait for the door to open at 5:45pm.  The door opened at 6:00pm promptly.  The restaurant was full at 6:10pm.   Still lots of people waiting outside.

Taiwanese Pickled Cabbage @ Indian Restaurant by you.
泡菜 Taiwanese Pickled Cabbage

The waitress in mini skirt brought the Taiwanese spicy pickled cabbage to the table with the menu.  It was slightly sweet, slightly sour, slightly spicy, and very crispy.

Kirin Beer / Taiwan Beer @ Indian Restaurant by you.
麒麟啤酒 Kirin Beer ($9.99) / 台灣啤酒 Taiwan Beer ($5.50)

Since it's a beer house, gotta order some beer to go with the food.  We all liked the Taiwan Beer.  But too bad they don't sell it in a pitcher.  One bottle just wasn't enough for 3 of us.  So we also ordered a pitcher of Kirin Beer.

Grilled Chicken Kabobs @ Indian Restaurant by you.
雞串 Grilled Chicken Kabobs ($5.98)

I did the ordering.  I really wanted to order (1) spicy stinky tofu; (2) intestine, lots and lots of intestine; and (3) duck tongue.  But Dr. P and his brother don't eat any of that.  So I had to order something more acceptable to "Americans".  Grilled Chicken Kabobs wasn't too weird for them.  Everyone liked it.  The chicken was tender with really good sauce.

Fried Chicken @ Indian Restaurant by you.
鹽酥雞 Fried Chicken ($6.99)

Ever since I introduced popcorn chicken to Dr. P, he fell in love with it.  I mean, how can you not?  I don't know anyone who doesn't like Taiwanese popcorn chicken.  So now we introduced it to his brother, he ended up loving it as well.  The crispy and slightly spicy fried chicken was so addictive.  I love how they added basil for more flavor.  Great with beer!

Sauteed Oyster with Black Bean Sauce @ Indian Restaurant by you.
蔭豉蚵 Sauteed Oyster with Black Bean Sauce ($9.99)

All the items I ordered that day were dishes my dad used to order in Taiwan when we went out to eat.  Eating those dishes brought back a lot of childhood memories.  Sauteed Oyster with Black Bean Sauce was good with rice.  The small oyster was sauteed with green onion, garlic, ginger, and garlic leaves (I don't really know how to call it in English sorry).

Satay Beef and Water Celery @ Indian Restaurant by you.
沙茶炒牛肉 Satay Beef  and Water Celery ($10.99)

Satay Beef and Water Celery was another dish that was good with rice.  It was also a little spicy.  I love the vegetable.

3 Flavor Combo In Pot @ Indian Restaurant by you.
三杯大會串 3 Flavor Combo In Pot ($9.99)

You have to order a "3 Flavor" dish when you eat Taiwanese food.  We got the combo with chicken, squid, octopus, and INTESTINE!  Last time we ordered this dish, they didn't have intestine.  With my favorite intestine in the pot, this was one of the best 3 flavor dish ever!  Maybe I should just get 3 flavor intestine next time?

Dried Turnip with Egg @ Indian Restaurant by you.
菜脯蛋 Dried Turnip with Egg ($6.99)

Dried turnip egg omelet was another one of my favorite dishes ever since I was little.  I like to take a big bite of the egg then chew up the soft egg and crunchy turnip.  Soft, crunchy, soft, crunchy, and yummy.

We also got the Lamb Stew (with 1 free refill) but forgot to take a picture.  The soup was perfect for a winter night.

Bill @ Indian Restaurant by you.

We got way too much food for 3 people.  I brought the leftover http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com and dad, mom and sister all loved the food.  I know most people go there for the sexy waitress...uh... decoration?  But next time I want to take my family there for the delicious Taiwanese food!

  1. I love going to Indian for their delicious Taiwanese food! I know a lot of guys go there for the waitress. Ah well...I'm only there for the food!

Haha... me too. Only there for the food.

  2. I was never that impressed with the Taiwanese Hooters girls at Indian. Plus the service was never very good, but the last time I was there, I felt they were getting better. The food's always been great, though. And I totally understand your pain when you have to skip the stinky tofu, intestines, and the glorious duck tongue. Sometimes I wish I could go by myself and order all kinds of bad stuff, like chicken butt and the small squid.

    Taiwanese Hooters girls... hahahaha....
We had one favorite waitress, the one with tattoo.
She's always so polite, friendly and fast.
Yeah, I like the small squid a lot, too.
But chicken butt... hmmm... I don't know about that. haha....

  4. Hi Eileen,

Even though I didn't grow up on it, I've come to love Stinky Tofu from all the "training" by my Chinese Cuisine Hounds over the years! :) It's unfortunate you didn't get to order any of it this time.

I've tried all 3 types of their Stinky Tofu here and would have to say their Sauteed / Stir-Fried version is the best! So good! :) Hope you can try it next time.

    Really? You like stinky tofu?
I gotta try that sauteed stinky tofu next time.
Maybe I'll just secretly order it in Chinese.
They tell Dr. P later that I "thought" it was regular tofu. haha....
