It's DineLA Restaurant Week again!  There are so many restaurants I want to try, but too bad I don't have enough time (and money) to try them all.  So this year I picked 5.  The first one is Dal Rae Restaurant, and I took my parents for lunch.

Dal Rae has been opened since the 50's.  This upscale steakhouse has the old-school charm.  We were seated in a comfortable leather booth.

3 course lunch DineLA menu for $22.

Bread @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.
Bread

In the bread basket, they served sourdough, spicy (really spicy) crispy chips, and sesame bread stick.  Dad loves the spicy crispy chips, and mom likes the sesame bread stick.

Ahi Sashimi On Toast @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.
Ahi Sashimi On Toast

There were 3 appetizers to choose from.  We got all 3 to share.  The ahi sashimi on toast was served with wasabi and soy sauce.  The thick piece of ahi tuna sashimi was really good.  It was served on a piece of toast with remoulade, capers, onions, and feta cheese.  I like this fusion appetizer a lot.

Crab Cakes @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.
Crab Cake

Crab cake was mom's favorite.  The lightly breaded cake had big chunks of delicious crab meat.  The chili cilantro cream sauce was really good.

Fried Calamari @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.
Fried Calamari

Fried calamari was served with spicy marinara and lemon butter sauces.  The calamari was really soft and the seasoning was great.

Grenadines of Filet Mignon @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.

For the main course, the other 2 choices were ahi tuna salad and chicken breast.  So of course we all got the filet mignon.  Each plate had 2 pieces of perfectly cooked juicy filet mignon.  String beans and mashed potato were the perfect accompany.  The sauce was delicious as well.

Creme Brulee @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.

We also got all 3 choices of dessert to share.  Creme brulee was good, but standard.

Tiramisu @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.
Tiramisu

Tiramisu was great.  Actually, excellent.  It had a pretty strong rum taste, which I really like.  That's exactly how tiramisu should be made.  The raspberry sauce was surprisingly good with tiramisu.  It helped lighten the heaviness of the tiramisu.

Gold Brick Sundae in a Lace Cookie @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.

Rich vanilla ice cream coated with chocolate.  Yum!  Mom really likes this one.

Bill @ Dal Rae Restaurant by you.

Both the food and service was excellent at Dal Rae.  We had a really good lunch.  Maybe we'll visit again for special occasion.  One thing I didn't really like is that they only have valet parking.  Service charge is $3.50, which means a mandatory extra $5 just for parking.  And they have their own big parking lot!  So I don't understand why do we have to pay $5 just so someone can pull my car into a space right in front of me.  But other than that, I like Dal Rae.

DineLA Restaurant Week ends next Friday.  Still plenty of time to check out some great restaurants for a great price.

  5. This place looked great! The food looks fabulous too. Almost too good to be eaten. I wished I could squeeze this place in as my DineLA option. I still hope to come here one of these days.

Hey Derf, I think Eileen turned off the flash and took the photo as fast as she can. No drinky on her part...I hope. :P

haha you're right. I was trying to quickly take a picture without anyone noticing.
Didn't want the patrons to think I'm trying to take THEIR pictures, you know.
