[Los Angeles] [Korean] Myung Dong Kyoja

Since I wasn't feeling too well at work, I felt like having some soup.  I passed by this Korean noodle restaurant Myung Dong Kyoja a few times before.  I decided it would be a good day to try their noodle soup.

Kal Guk Soo @ Myung Dong Kyoja by you.
Kal Guk Soo (Hand Cut Noodle Soup with Beef and Dumplings) ($7.95)

They only have about 6 different noodles on the menu.  Half of them are cold noodle.  I got the only hot noodle soup, Kal Guk Soo.  They packed the to-go order in two containers.  One with noodle, veggies, ground beef, and dumplings.  One with clear broth.

On the menu, it said that they use hand cut noodle.  I was expecting the Chinese style hand cut thick noodle.  But it just tasted like regular soft white noodle.  It was good though.  The broth was delicious and definitely made me feel better.  I like the little dumplings a lot as well.  Portion was big and I could only finish half.

Kimchi & Dumpling Dipping Sauce @ Myung Dong Kyoja by you.
Dipping Sauce & Kimchi

I LOVE their dipping sauce and their kimchi... maybe even a little more than the noodle.  The dipping sauce was for the dumplings.  It made the already tasty dumplings even more tasty.  The kimchi was one of the best kimchi I've ever had.  I don't exactly know how to describe it.  But I just love the taste.

I like Myung Dong Kyoja.  Next I probably will eat at the restaurant rather than getting it to go.  One problem with the to-go was that the noodle all stuck together.  So instead of eating strings of noodle, I was eating blocks on noodle.  I will go back again soon.

  1. Hey Eileen, you do need to dine in at this place. I liked this place a lot. The steamed dumplings are awesome and their cold noodles are very good as well. In fact, I need to blog this very soon as one of my "next" to blog restaurant.

Glad you like this place as well.

Yeah next time I'll definitely eat at the restaurant.
I love their kimchi. I'm not sure if dipping the kimchi in the soup is the correct way to eat.
But I just LOVE eating the noodle like that.
