For years, I have heard from friends about how good Islands' burgers are.  For years, I just never had the chance to try it for myself.  I told Dr. P that I really want to try Islands, and he took me there for lunch on Wednesday.

The restaurant has a tiki style decoration.  Cute!

We studied their menu online before heading over to the restaurant.  But they never mentioned anything about lunch special on their website.  Lunch special is $7.95, which also include their Endless Mug drink.  That's a deal!

Passion Fruit Iced Tea / Nestea Raspberry Iced Tea

Right after ordering, our waiter started bringing us our drinks.  I got Passion Fruit Iced Tea, which is an unsweetened tea.  Dr. P got Nestea Raspberry Iced Tea.  I love my passion fruit iced tea.  Our waiter just kept on bringing the ice tea mug after mug.  It was a hot day, and we both had 4 mugs of iced tea!

Tortilla Soup ($3.29)
Hearty soup w/chicken & fresh vegetables, topped w/jack cheese, avocado & tortilla strips

Dr. P loves Tortilla Soup.  He started the meal with a small bowl of it.  I had a sip and it was pretty good.

Big Wave with Cheese Burger ($7.95)
Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles & mustard

Dr. P got the Big Wave Burger.  It was a simple cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle.

He ordered the beef patty to be cooked medium, on wheat buns.  The meat has to be super fresh for them to offer it medium.  The burger was simple, but really good.

CA Flyer Chicken Burger ($7.95)
BBQ Sauce, seasoned red onion strings, lettuce, tomato, pepper jack cheese & mayo

I got CA Flyer Chicken Burger.  By the way, we love their endless fries.  It was crunchy with perfect seasoning.  The best part, it's all you can eat!

The grilled chicken breast was so tender and juicy.  I always wonder how restaurants cook their chicken breasts so perfectly.  But a lot of times when I cook it at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com, it turned out to be dry, or undercooked.....  The chicken burger was very good.  I like the texture of the soft chicken meat with crunchy onion string.  Just half a burger, I was already really full.  Or maybe it was that 4 glasses of iced tea that got me full?

There are so many different burgers I want to try from Islands.  I'm sure we'll visit again real soon.

  1. Haven't been to Islands in a long time now! Last time I went there was for a take out order, and I haven't gone back since. Should go back now- I have way too many coupons for this place that will not expire! Both of these burgers look so yummy. I have not eaten burgers in weeks now.

If I have way too many coupons for Islands, I would go there all the time.

  2. Thanks for showing us the lunch specials. I've been to this place for years until about 2 years ago, they raised prices on the food. Now it seems like it's worth going back.

Lunch special is a really good value.
Otherwise just a burger alone is about $10.
