After lunch with family in Laguna Beach, my mom and brother had to go back to LA. My sister stayed to hang out, and we decided to have Japanese for dinner. I tried to find "cheap omakase" on Yelp, and the name Shishi Shibucho came up.
It's a really small restaurant. Glad we made reservation. The seats filled up really fast right after they opened for dinner.
Miso Fish Roe
We ordered omakase for 2 for $35/person. We were served this appetizer. It tasted kinda like salty egg, maybe fish roe we thought? Then we overheard the sushi chef talking to a customer about it. He said it was made with miso and fish egg.
Omakase Sushi ($35/person x2)
Lots of woo and wah when we got our giant omakase sushi plate. It looked almost too pretty to eat! There was not one thing I did not like on the plate! For $35 per person, it was a really good deal for such high quality sushi.
Squid
Grilled miso squid. It was a bit tough to chew.
Chirashi Sushi Deluxe ($18.50)
I bought a Chirashi to take home for Dr. P. He loved it. Finished the whole thing, and wanted some more.
We will definitely be back again for omakase!!
