[Temple City] [Chinese] Mandarin Noodle Deli

We had a family lunch at brother's house. For dinner, sister and I decided to go get pork chop rice. While driving, we passed by Mandarin Noodle Deli. All of a sudden we changed our mind and decided to have some noodle instead.

This place specializes in dishes from Shanxi (Mountain West) Province. I don't really know Shanxi food that well. I just know they eat a lot of noodles and buns, kinda like Shandong (Mountain East) Province, where my grandfather was from.

山西燒肉麵 Shanxi Meat Noodle ($5.95)

At first we were thinking about getting JaJong Noodle (炸醬麵). But we saw Shanxi Meat Noodle on the menu. Since it has the word "Shanxi" in the name, we figured it's probably a specialty from the province. Let's try that instead then. We asked for the dough cut noodle (刀削麵), and the noodle was really good. The meat noodle sauce was made with chunks of stewed pork. The meat was tender. It was good.

韭菜豬肉餡餅 Leek w/ Pork Pancakes ($5.95)

Leek w/ Pork Pancakes was.... oily. So much oil on top of the pancakes when they brought them to our table. We had to use our paper napkin to soak up the oil.

Minced pork, leek, and some glass noodle inside the pancake. It didn't have much taste, but a dip in the hot sauce made it tasted good.

The food at this noodle house was ok. It was good, but not very memorable. It wasn't worth to make a special trip to. But if you're in the neighborhood, feel like having some noodle, and don't want to spend too much money, this place would be a good choice.

P.S. This was our lunch at my brother's house. Yum~~~~
