We were so impressed with the food at Sushi Izakaya Rei that we went back a week later. This time we sat at the sushi bar. The sushi chef Tom is not just talented at making sushi, he was also very funny and entertaining.

Japanese Spring Roll ($2.00)

We took advantage of their happy hour and ordered a few drinks to go with the $2 appetizer. Japanese Spring Roll was really crispy on the outside. The inside was filled with cabbage. The dipping sauce was slightly spicy. This was good beer food. We also ordered grilled yellowtail collar just like last time, but I forgot to take a picture. It was too delicious!

Salmon Sushi ($3.75) / Yellowtail Sushi ($4.50) / Albacore Sushi ($3.95) / Spanish Mackerel Sushi ($4.50) / Squid Sushi ($3.50) / Salmon Roe Sushi ($3.75)

We were most impressed with their sushi last time. So this time we just focused on the sushi. We just love how the chef added something extra for all the sushi. I love the shiso leaves with squid and Spanish Mackerel. Dr. P likes the fried garlic with albacore and lemon with salmon.

Spicy Tuna Roll ($5.99)

Great Spicy Tuna Roll!

Tuna Sushi ($3.99) / Yellowtail Sushi ($4.50)

Our second round of sushi. By this time, the restaurant became really busy. Then our sushi didn't have the "extra" anymore. Nevertheless, it was still great sushi.

Scallop Sushi ($4.50)

Giant scallop sushi. It was so fresh and sweet.

Dynamite Roll ($12.50)

I always like Dynamite. The Dynamite Roll was great. It had tons of scallop baked with a mixture of mayo and eel sauce on top of California roll. This roll really filled us up, too.

Philadelphia Roll Tempura

We bought the chef two rounds of beer, and he seemed happy. Then he treated us to this special Philadelphia Roll Tempura.

Orange

And cut up some super sweet orange for us.

What a great dinner! Next time we'll be back to try their all you can eat sushi night!
